Bottom Line

The 336-room Park Hotel Clarke Quay is a large, upscale hotel that's a short walk to Clarke Quay's restaurants, bars, and nightlife. The hotel's centerpiece is its outdoor pool with a shady bar and grill for dining and drinking poolside. An on-site restaurant serves three meals a day and there is a modern 24-hour fitness center. Rooms are on the small side -- and Wi-Fi isn't included in the standard room rate -- but they are modern and pleasant, with wall-mounted flat-screen TVs and minibars. Guests wanting larger rooms should compare rates with the stylish Wangz Hotel, an upscale boutique in the trendy Tiong Bharu neighborhood, though it's less central.

Park Hotel Clarke Quay

Scene

Upscale hotel with impressive outdoor pool area

Upon entering the Park Hotel, the impression made is largely one that carries over for the rest of a stay here -- a sharp hotel with a pleasant, straightforward vibe. Large windows fill the long lobby with light that glints off the polished marble floors, while chandeliers and fresh flowers add an additional touch of class. The restaurant located on the ground floor, Brizo, is also lined with large windows, creating a bright space for dining inside, while tables lined up outside are available for dining alfresco. There’s a small, blue-lit bar that's a modern spot for guests to enjoy a drink, and the outdoor pool area has views of leafy trees. There are plenty of places to relax around the pool, which is the hotel's centerpiece, including several lounge chairs on the surrounding terrace or on the wooden deck at the pool bar and grill. Couples make up the bulk of guests here, though families, business travelers, and even those traveling on their own find their way here as well.

Location

Near Clarke Quay's riverside restaurants and bars

This hotel is located near Clarke Quay, a lively neighborhood next to the Singapore River with plenty of dining and nightlife options. Walks to the riverside area take less than 10 minutes, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants on both sides of the water, which is spanned by a pedestrian bridge. The hotel also neighbors the quieter Robertson Quay, a largely residential area that offers additional restaurants and bars should guests feel short on options. The hotel offers a free shuttle to nearby MRT stations, the Orchard Road shopping area, and the Central Business District. Clarke Quay Metro station is only 12 minutes away on foot, though, for guests who don't mind a walk. The hotel is convenient to the river taxi jetty at Robertson Quay to reach sights including Merlion statue (a popular photo op), Marina Bay, and the Museum of Asian Civilization. Changi International Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel depending on traffic.

Rooms

Compact, modern rooms with minibars; Club Room perks available

The modern rooms at this hotel are compact, though at 24 square meters  (258 square feet) of space and up, they offer a bit more room than many other central Singapore hotels. Decor is pleasant, with plenty of interesting visual textures, like swirl-patterned carpeting, ridged light wood headboards, and patterned throw pillows and bed runners. Furniture includes basic wooden nightstands and desks, and color schemes blend light hues and bolder dark shades. All rooms feature wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, minibars, and electric kettles. Wi-Fi is available for a fee in most rooms. Bathrooms have walk-in glass showers with rainfall showerheads or shower/tub combos. Some guests find the amount of electrical outlets in the rooms to be insufficient. Rooms offering views of the Singapore River are arguably the best, and guests recommend paying the extra fee to stay in Club Rooms for access to the Crystal Club Lounge, which includes several perks detailed below.
