Bottom Line

This three-star hotel may not be a trendy boutique property, but it offers enough amenities to pass as one. It’s located in a prime spot right across a quiet street from the beach and in the heart of Sitges. There’s a rooftop bar with beautiful views of the water, where tea, coffee, and cakes are served in the early evening, as well as a popular Mediterranean restaurant, El Rincon de Pepe. There’s also a small outdoor pool with a hydromassage feature and chic deck area with double beds for lounging. Rooms are fairly spacious (except for tiny bathrooms) and colorful -- the best rooms have balconies with sea views. The hotel is slightly dated, as are most of the properties in Sitges, but with a welcoming atmosphere that keeps guests -- mainly couples, as well as single travelers -- coming back summer after summer. It may be worth comparing rates at nearby Hotel Galeon, they have a better breakfast but aren't as close to the beach.

Oyster Hotel Review

Hotel Platjador

Scene

Relaxed atmosphere, with popular rooftop bar and restaurant

The white and electric-blue hotel is housed in an older building, but gives off a nice, relaxed vibe, with brightly-colored paintings by local artists decorating the walls. The lobby is more function than fun, with just a faded white sofa and wood-back chairs near the reception desk -- probably because most guests are upstairs on the rooftop bar with stunning views and furniture that verge on trendy. The large El Rincon de Pepe restaurant draws a crowd for its Mediterranean dishes and offers seating inside, in an area decorated with modern art, and outdoors in the middle of the action in Sitges. The pool area, while shaded with an awning, is also very modern, with a see-through outdoor shower and plenty of cushioned loungers.

Location

Across the street from the beach, surrounded by restaurants and bars

The Platjador is in a prime location on Spain's Costa Brava, right by the beach, close to the city center, and surrounded by restaurants and bars. It’s an easy walk to the popular beaches, such as Platja de la Fragata and Platja de la Ribera, as well as the promenade with great views of the hills and sea. The hotel is also about a 10-minute walk from the train station, with trains running to Barcelona in less than 40 minutes. Barcelona-El Prat Airport is about a 25-minute drive away. There isn't much traffic noise because of the proximity to the beach. A quiet road and pedestrian promenade separate the hotel from the sand. There's a charge for limited parking spaces.

Rooms

Simple and clean with modern bathrooms and balconies

The 59 air-conditioned rooms at Hotel Platjador are clean and fairly spacious, and while the overall decor is somewhat bland, the brightly-colored paintings and balcony shutters are charming. Hardwood floors are a luxe touch. The beds are comfortable and a fun pillow menu is available. All rooms have furnished balconies, some overlooking the sea, though first-floor rooms near the pool area don’t have the nicest views. Amenities include flat-screen TVs with DVD players, mini-fridges with bottled water, tea kettles with supplies, and safes. Modern bathrooms are a tight squeeze though they do have rain showers and a glass shelf for toiletries. A hair dryer is mounted to the wall. Noise isn't an issue here as the walls are thick and traffic is minimal.
