Located off the main highway in a rather isolated area, this Hampton Inn doesn’t have the bustle of downtown hotels or those along busy streets in Spokane. The lobby is designed to offer cozy spaces for quiet conversation or relaxing. A living room-like area left of the entrance is separated by half-walls. A double-side gas fireplace with a lovely, natural stone hearth and mantel in the center of the space is surrounded by upholstered armchairs and sofas in various earth tones and a black carpet in a black-and-red circle pattern. The low ceiling gives it a cozy ambience, and a coffee station nearby invites guests to grab a free cup and linger, as does the adjacent business center with two computer stations. The restaurant and lounge off the lobby continues the comfortable seating options and casual decor. Thanks to its location, this quiet hotel sees a steady stream of corporate and airport travelers.

The Hampton Inn is located near the intersection of West Sunset Highway (a three-minute drive) and Interstate 90, mid-way between Spokane International Airport and downtown Spokane. The airport is about eight minutes away by car or shuttle bus. It’s isolated, as it sits in a commercial area with no restaurants or shops within reasonable walking distance. However, several restaurants are found within a few minutes of driving, including the Northern Quest Resort & Casino (nine minutes away). Most of downtown Spokane and its attractions can be reached by driving approximately 10 to 12 minutes, including the Spokane Convention Center, Riverfront Park, Bing Crosby Theater, Spokane Falls, Spokane River Square, and the campus of Gonzaga University. It's a 23-minute drive to the Fairchild Air Force Base.

Each room at the Hampton Inn Spokane is clean and spacious in a generic style that's typical of chain hotels, though it runs toward a darker palette that includes solid, deep red drapes and a matching accent wall. Grayish brown and beige patterned carpet lines the floor. The matching wood furniture is also dark-hued and includes headboards, desks, nightstands, and dressers that hold 37-inch flat-screens, microwaves, and mini-fridges. Bedding includes soft white duvets and bed skirts in burgundy. Guests can either work at the desks paired with black ergonomic office chairs or use the lap desks provided -- a thoughtful touch for business travelers. Free Wi-Fi, room service, and a free copy of USA Today on weekdays are standard amenities in all rooms. Simple bathrooms lighten things up a bit with softer earth tones, including tan granite vanities outside the bathrooms, beige floor tiles, and white acrylic shower/tub combos with curved curtain rods. Suites include double-sink vanities, and some suites have marble-framed, two-person whirlpool tubs in the bedroom area. 

Suites feature a separate living room with second flat-screen TVs, sofas (some are sleepers), armchairs, and dining tables. Some suites have gas fireplaces, kitchenettes, and private balconies with tables and chairs, although views in all rooms are rather disappointing, offering little more than the hotel grounds, highway, and ravine separating the two. Some of the suites are quite spacious and offer different decor with lighter earth tones and nicer furniture like leather sofas. Past guests report that front rooms facing the highway can hear occasional highway truck noise. 

Features at the Hampton Inn Spokane are indicative of the chain and focus on in-and-out travelers. A free hot breakfast buffet is included in room rates. The full-service bistro focuses on sandwiches and salads; it serves lunch and dinner. The 24-hour convenience store sells sundries, beverages, snacks, and microwave-ready entrees. Parking is free at the on-site lot, and the hotel operates a free 24-hour airport shuttle. The 24-hour fitness center is a bit small, but it has several cardio and weight-training machines and free weights. The 24-hour indoor pool has an adjacent whirlpool and several lounge chairs and tables. Valet laundry services are available, and the self-serve laundry facilities are open 24 hours. There is a function room that can seat up to 107 people, as well as a small boardroom. The 24-hour business center has two computer stations with Internet access and free printing. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property. And there is a safe deposit box at the front desk.
