Bottom Line

Oyster Bay Beach Resort was impacted by Hurricane Irma in September 2017 and is currently closed for repairs. We will update our review as soon as we know more. The upper-middle-range Oyster Bay Beach Resort has an optimal spot perched on a hill overlooking the Caribbean Ocean, and within easy walking distance of the white sands of Dawn Beach. With a beautiful infinity pool, a host of dining and drinking options, and stunning bay views, it provides nearly every amenity travelers expect in a three-and-a-half-pearl hotel. The 180-rooms are all spacious and contemporary with modern features -- flat-screen TVs, microwaves, and coffeemakers -- and many have balconies with spectacular ocean views. With rooms ranging in size from studios to two-bedroom suites, expect to see plenty of families and couples. Those looking for a quieter and more tranquil option could consider Bleu Emeraude, though it has less amenities and a higher price.

Oyster Hotel Review

Oyster Bay Beach Resort

Scene

Relaxed hotel with a small social scene and plenty of places to hang out

Oyster Bar Beach Resort packs in plenty of island-inspired charm. The spacious property is situated on a hill overlooking the Caribbean Ocean and next to Dawn Beach. By day, the stunning infinity pool and white sands of the beach bustle with couples and families hanging out together. Guests also tend to linger in the lobby and courtyard throughout the day, laptops and phones in hand, as these are the two spots with free Wi-Fi. Thankfully, wicker sofas, rustic tile floors, and twirling ceiling fans make the lobby an inviting place. Dining options offer a range of atmospheres, so guests can gravitate toward the one that suits them best: the Infinity Restaurant offers a romantic ambience in a trendy and modern setting with turquoise and white chairs; Infinity Bar has a lively and convivial atmosphere with a few flat-screen TVs and a U-shaped bar; and Beau Beau’s down by the beach features a casual atmosphere with theme nights and live music.

The small market town of Marigot, the French capital, can also be reached in a 35-minute drive. The property is located on the Dutch Side near the French border, and it's a 35-minute drive from the Princess Juliana International Airport. Rooms

Colorful and modern rooms, many with spacious balconies and stunning views

There’s a lot to like about Oyster Bay's bright and modern rooms, starting with their vivid color schemes, skewing toward tropical greens, blues, and yellows. Typical decor includes bed runners in aqua tones, chunky blond-wood furniture, and framed beachy prints on the walls. Room categories range from studio to two-bedroom suites. Many rooms feature living rooms with dining room tables and bright floral couches. Full kitchens are on offer in larger rooms, with dishwashers, coffeemakers, and microwaves, while kitchenettes are available in the smaller rooms. Washer and dryer units are in a few rooms, too. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs and DVRs, but in-room Wi-Fi costs a fee. The highlight of many rooms are their spacious balconies with postcard-worthy views over Oyster Bay.

Courtyard Rooms are a step above, style-wise, with herringbone floors, abstract art, and funky geometric throw pillows. These units also have kitchenettes, and come with microwaves, coffeemakers, and mini-fridges. They offer balconies with ocean or garden views.

Bathrooms vary by room category. Many are spacious and well-appointed with plenty of vanity space and toiletries, while others are narrow and smaller. Shower/tub combos and bidets come standard in most, and all bathrooms have plenty of towels and hairdryers.

Features

Several drinking and dining options, spacious infinity pool, and a 38-slip marina

Like any good upper-middle-range resort, Oyster Bay offers plenty of features to keep guests entertained on site. The star attraction, Dawn Beach, is a two-minute walk from the hotel and it's set with plenty of white-and-blue loungers, and turquoise sun umbrellas. Food and drink service is available from the resort's beachfront restaurant, Beau Beau’s. This casual spot serves American grill fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, such as wings, salads, and burgers. More dining can be found at the Infinity Restaurant. Open throughout the day, this restaurant serves an American fusion menu (burgers, pasta, and eggs) laced with local flavors. The setting here is more modern and elegant. For drinks, the Infinity Bar sits adjacent to the restaurant, but it's decidedly more casual; its U-shaped bar has a handful of bar stools and high top tables. Guests wander in and out of the bar from the spacious pool terrace, which also offers spectacular views of Oyster Bay.

The resort's lovely infinity pool is another highlight. Its freeform aquamarine water loops around the grounds and seems to dip off the horizon line into the sea beyond. It's surrounded by plenty of blue cushioned lounge chairs and a hot tub. The pool deck is a lively area, especially during high season, thanks to having a neighboring bar. Sunbathers or those looking to lounge alfresco can also make use of other common areas near the pool, such as the small stone patio overlooking the pool terrace. It's furnished with a few white umbrellas and trendy black wicker couches topped with bright turquoise and green cushions. The spacious, bustling courtyard, with brown wooden tables and white umbrellas, gives another spot to linger.

A small row of shops, a petite spa, an adequately sized fitness center, and a laundry room are situated at the front of the property. Across from this, the 38-slip marina docks rows of ships. A handful of shops are here as well including a small bodega with snacks and drinks. There is plenty of free parking throughout the hotel, and Wi-Fi is free in the common areas, but there is a fee for Wi-Fi in the rooms.
