Bottom Line

The four-pearl Highmark Steamboat Springs boutique hotel is nestled at the bottom of Mount Werner making it easy for guests to access the slopes. The nearest gondola is under 10 minutes' walk, and the free shuttle service goes to other ski resorts and town. The hotel has an indoor/outdoor pool, a hot tub, and a modern fitness center, while the on-site gourmet grocery store makes it convenient for guests to prepare meals in the full-size kitchens in the 23 apartment-style units. The clientele is almost entirely families, though some couples stay here too, all drawn to the nearby mountain-related activities. Just a few minutes’ walk away, Sheraton Steamboat Resort is a good alternative if the Highmark is booked, and it has an on-site restaurant.

Highmark Steamboat Springs by Mountain Resorts

Scene

Luxurious hotel with mountain-lodge decor that draws families

Highmark Steamboat Springs is a boutique hotel housed in a six-story, Bavarian-style building made of partial stone. The lobby is luxurious but manages to maintain a homey, welcoming atmosphere with a mountain-lodge decor. Deep autumnal tones combine with luxe accents ranging from animal-print pillows to natural-wood candlestick holders. Gray stone floors are nicely complemented with Victorian-style leather chairs, and rather than a typical front desk, guests check in at a simple wooden table next to a cozy fireplace. Other areas of the hotel, such as the guest lounge, maintain the same style with wood-paneled walls, carved wooden furniture, fur and velvet pillows on Victorian-style couches and chairs, floral-patterned rugs, stone fireplaces, and woodland paintings. Most guests are families who have chosen the hotel for its condominium-style units and can be seen congregating in the pool area or in the lounge.
