An upscale business hotel on the edge of Stockholm's historic Gamla Stan neighborhood, the
Sheraton Stockholm has 465 large, modern rooms, many of which have water views. A stalwart on the
hotel scene since 1971, the hotel is minutes away from the central train station and right next to the City Hall. Its modern gym, happy hour offers, and upscale bistro make it a good choice for travelers who like a lot of amenities, and the Sheraton chain is also known for its comfortable beds and top-tier service. The Hilton Slussen, a five-minute drive away, has similar rates and views over the waterfront.
Scene
Trendy, modern hotel with DJ nights and a hip bar
The spacious lobby has high, industrial-style
ceilings; large, modernist chandeliers; and an abundance of glass windows, both
from interior-facing guest rooms and for sunlight to pour in through. Leather sofas, velvet couches, and wood tables provide space for guests to
lounge, get work done, and await friends. Everywhere you look, recessed
lighting casts a chic glow and there’s so much space that the lobby has been known to double up as
a car show room for special events. Catering mainly
to couples and business travelers, the hotel is a lively
place; a DJ plays in the lobby most nights, giving the place a trendy vibe. A chic bar with colorful sofas adjoins the lobby; the mood lighting has a purple glow, the large windows are draped with flowing white curtains, and window seats make for good people-watching perches.
Location
Close to the water, near Gamla Stan and City Hall
Overlooking Lake Mälaren, the Sheraton Stockholm located in the heart of Stockholm, minutes away from the central train station, putting the entire city at your fingertips.
Gamla Stan, the historic old town of Stockholm, is only a short 10-minute walk
across the bridge in the other direction. It's also right next to city hall.
Head the other direction and you'll walk along the water toward the museums. Immediately behind the hotel is a major
shopping district. A train will get you to the trendy area of Sodermalm in less than 12 minutes, which has streets that contain the hippest shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes.
Rooms
Sleek, warm, and contemporary, with hardwood floors, marble bathrooms, and pops of color
The large, modern rooms at the Sheraton Stockholm are notable for their spare, contemporary style, and the mostly excellent views of
the city and the sea. Rooms on higher floors have the best vantage points and
suffer less from the noise of the street below.
Brand hallmarks such as the Sweet Sleeper Bed with hypoallergenic pillows are
standard, and the linens are crisp, white, and luxurious. Standard rooms are the
most affordable and are smartly decorated, with teal accents, wooden floors, and a round, nautical-inspired mirror. Bathrooms are marble, most with shower/tub combinations and Molton Brown toiletries. All rooms have iPod docks with speakers and large flat-screen TVs. Higher-tier suites get even more, with larger bathrooms, Nespresso machines, and, in the Presidential Suite, a four-poster bed.
Features
Well-equipped gym, in-room spa treatments, a hip bar and restaurant, and a guest happy hour
As a business-catering hotel, it's not surprising that the Sheraton Stockholm has a large gym with a good range of equipment, as well as a sauna and a massage room. In-room spa treatments can also be arranged. The Club Lounge, open only to Sheraton Club guests, is especially popular; an extensive free breakfast is served there daily, with a large selection of drinks that includes a Nespresso machine and a soda fountain. The restaurant and bar are popular with locals and guests alike; the restaurant serves modern Scandinavian cuisine. The hotel offers a regular, guest happy hour
with free wine, beer, and nibbles. There's also free Wi-Fi and parking, as well as a small business center and 15 meeting rooms.
