The Moevenpick Hotel Zurich-Airport is a dependable upscale airport hotel with a streamlined contemporary look, though the decor can feel a bit rote. The lobby is an expanse of gray polished floor with a few red accents, although the nook off the lobby offers a more homey feel with wood floors and carpeted sitting areas. Arguably the most attractive area on-site is the Le Chalet restaurant, a steakhouse and grill with a high-end rustic feel -- think wood beam ceilings and exposed brick accents. While the hotel is not directly attached to the airport, it's only about a five-minute ride on the hotel's free airport shuttle, making this a convenient landing pad pre- or post-air travel. Business- and kid-friendly amenities make this hotel a good pick for families and business travelers alike. 

While not directly connected to the airport (only one airport hotel is), the Moevenpick Hotel Zurich-Airport the hotel is still fairly close, about five minutes away via the hotel's own free airport shuttle that runs every 15 minutes during peak hours. The Kloten Balsberg tram station is about a 12-minute walk from the hotel (though guests sometimes find the walk to the hotel from the train confusing). Guests can get into the heart of the city in about 30 minutes via public transportation, though this isn't an ideal location for tourists. Parking is available, but it costs an extra fee.

Like the hotel's common areas, rooms are clean and contemporary though somewhat generic and gently dated in style with striped wall-to-wall carpeting, white walls, and wood laminate furniture. Rooms are spacious, though -- even entry level Classic Rooms can sleep up to four guests comfortably. White-tiled bathrooms are modern and roomy with combination showers and tubs. There are three on-site restaurants: Mövenpick Hotel Restaurant serves international dishes (and has a seasonal outdoor terrace), Restaurant Dim Sum serves Cantonese food, and “le chalet” is a cozy steakhouse-style restaurant and grill with a high-end rustic feel. There's also a lobby bar, opened in the early evening until late, and most guests receive a free welcome drink. The hotel offers an extensive breakfast buffet with hot and cold options like cooked-to-order omelettes, but it's a little pricey if not included in the room rate. Guests occasionally note slow service in the restaurants and high prices, but most find the food good. On Sundays, only the hotel restaurant is opened, so guests looking to snag a table should reserve early. Room service is available during limited hours.

There's a clean and modern fitness room on site, but it's small for such a large hotel, with only a handful of cardio machines (including ellipticals and treadmills) and weightlifting equipment.
