Bottom Line

Opened in 2015, this sleek high rise is part hotel and part office space. It’s an ideal spot for business travelers or cosmopolitan couples. While most hotels on the famous boulevard are small boutiques, the four-pearl Hotel Rothschild has 156 guest rooms across several floors. Rooms can be snug, but come with great views, sophisticated cream and brushed metal decor, and luxe L’Occitane products. Perks like Nespresso machines, digital movies, and minibars add extra value, and the executive/club extras include a 10th floor business lounge with fantastic city views. There’s no pool or restaurant, but guests have access to an on-site gym, free bike rentals, and breakfast. For a hotel with an edgier modern style and lower rates, it's worth checking out the NYX Tel Aviv Hotel, though you'll sacrifice the Hotel Rothschild's superb location.

Oyster Hotel Review

Hotel Rothschild 22

Scene

Cosmopolitan tower hotel is also home to office space

The Hotel Rothschild 22 adds another Rothschild hotel to the mix (there are several hotels with similar names on the boulevard and they are often confused). However, this one stands out as the largest and the tallest. Hotel Rothschild 22 is a sleek and sophisticated high-rise hotel, which functions as both a hotel and as office space for several companies, such as Facebook. This gives the hotel an added level of security that can either be reassuring or a pain since guests are typically only granted access to their room floor. This, plus the snug sizes of the rooms and minimal-to-no public space can make the hotel feel small despite its large size and gives extra value to the extra lounge perks of the Executive and Club rooms.

Still, there’s no denying this hotel has swagger; from the modern, high ceiling lobby with clean-lined furniture to the elevator’s polished marble tile floors and the black and white carpets lining the halls, the Hotel Rothschild is classy and smart.

Rooms

Small, but sophisticated rooms with upscale features and lots of natural light; nights can be noisy

Hotel Rothschild has 156 elegantly smart rooms. There’s no getting around it -- the rooms here are small, but thanks to perks like waffle-comb bathrobes, slippers, L’Occitane products and toiletry kits, and fully-stocked minibars, they feel upscale. The newness of Hotel Rothschild allows for fun tech features like smart, touch-operated electric switches. Corner rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the room with natural light.

Boutique Rooms feature a 48-inch TV and elegant contemporary decor featuring knitted bedrunners, white painted wood floors, and a sophisticated color palette of cream and brushed metallics. Decor changes with Deluxe Rooms which feature pops of red patterns and an upgraded sitting chair.

The best views are from floors five through 10, which require upgrades to an Executive Urban View or Club Sea View Rooms. Executive Urban Views have gorgeous white, classic bathrooms with a modern twist and city view, while the Club Sea View has a view of the Mediterranean, access to the business lounge, and a desk area. It’s worth noting that the hotel is near a late-night club and can be extremely noisy at night. Baby kits are also available, though the small rooms aren’t really set up for kids.

Features

Breakfast buffet for a fee, guided tours, and free bikes to borrow

The hotel’s standout feature is the 10th floor business lounge with sweeping views over the city -- though the space is not available to all guests. Business lounge access is restricted to guests traveling on business or guests who are staying in a Club Sea View Room. Inside you’ll find stylish and chic decor with a slightly Eastern theme, and a constantly refilled snack bar with pastries, fruit, and other kosher treats. Drinks are free and include beer, wine, a liquor-inclusive happy hour. Adjacent to the business lounge is the hotel’s breakfast room. The buffet-style breakfast costs extra, can get crowded, and has mixed reviews for quality.

The air-conditioned gym area plays the hits while guests works out on TechnoGym and TRX machines. There are rubber floors and a hip vibe, plus fresh fruit and towels on hand. For those who prefer to exercise outdoors, the hotel has guided tours and free vouchers that guests can use to rent the local city bikes. During our visit we were told that only business and Club Room guests have access to the business center, gym, and breakfast room; all other guests only have access to their room floor.

Limited parking is available for an extra fee. Freebies include Wi-Fi and a welcome drink on arrival. Additional business features include meeting rooms for up to 15 guests with light catering available.
