Bottom Line

Formerly the Luabay Costa Adeje, this hotel is now a mid-range, adult-only all-inclusive with a somewhat quieter vibe than nearby hotels. While marketed as a luxury property, rooms are pleasant but just average, with basic blonde wood furniture and typical amenities such as flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges. There are two restaurants, a small spa, a basic but modern fitness center, and daily entertainment. But the highlight here are the pools, especially the infinity-edge one on a higher floor, which features wonderful ocean and sunset views. The hotel offers good value overall -- just beware of the many extra fees. Those with kids (not permitted here) may prefer the similarly priced Iberostar Bouganville Playa.

Scene

A mid-range all-inclusive with an adult-only policy and solid amenities

While the white and grey façade is similar to most of the other properties in the neighborhood, the shape of the building -- resting on pillars of different sizes to make up for the slope on the street -- makes it stand out among the more traditional constructions around. The lobby is bright and modern with a few homey touches, such as small sitting areas with shelves full of books for guests to borrow, and comfy couches. Light comes in through floor-to ceiling windows overlooking the pool area and the sea, and large colorful photos with a serene maritime motif decorate the walls. This subtle sea-themed decor extends to rooms without feeling overwhelming or forced, and the curved lines resembling waves and sweet blue color palette make for an overall serene feel. The adult-only policy makes it quieter than the more family-friendly hotels nearby, and balconies have been built at an angle so that most rooms get at least a partial ocean view

Location

Within walking distance of one of Costa Adeje's best beaches

The hotel is located on a one-way street lined with hotels, shops selling souvenirs and beach gear, and restaurants. Down the street -- less than two blocks away -- is Fañabé, one of Costa Adeje’s largest and most famous beaches. Guests can sign up for boat excursions and do water sports at Puerto Colón, located a 10-minute walk away. Playa de las Amércias and Los Cristianos, both known for their nice beaches, can be reached by car in 15 minutes, or in 20 by bus. There is a bus stop a five-minute walk from the property. The airport is a 15-minute drive away.

Rooms

Bright and clean, with flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges

The hotel has 303 rooms, all featuring a subtle maritime motif, with headboards resembling waves, and a color palette of different hues of blue. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but they’re not as luxurious as one might expect of a property that markets itself as 4-star. They have simple wood furniture, bedspreads rather than duvets, and little artwork (typically two small photographs), making units a little plain and basic. However, all have balconies, most of which have been built at an angle to offer partial ocean views. Bathrooms are contemporary and clean, but walk-in showers are shallow and there have been complaints of overflowing. Wi-Fi, electric kettles, and safes are available for a weekly fee. Also note that soundproofing could be improved.

Features

Two pools, two restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, and tennis courts

This all-inclusive offers all the basics for a relaxing holiday, including an adult-only policy; two restaurants (one buffet, one a la carte); a small spa complete with a sauna, a whirlpool, a steam bath and massages; a small but modern fitness center; and tennis courts (for a fee). However, the highlight here are the pools. The free-form one is small but has lots of loungers around it; the other one has an infinity edge and offers striking views of the ocean, making it a popular spot among couples for watching the sunset. On-site parking and Wi-Fi are both available for a fee.
