Bottom Line

The two-pearl Paraiso del Sol Apartments offers a budget stay in Playa de la Americas, a seven-minute walk from the nearest beach. Although decor is bright and cheerful, most furnishings throughout the property are dated and in need of replacing. This particularly applies to the 94 apartment-style rooms, which are spacious and well-equipped, but lack air-conditioning and Wi-Fi. Living spaces, flat-screen TVs, furnished balconies, and kitchenettes are provided, but expect fees for in-room Wi-Fi, safes, irons, and hairdryers. An outdoor pool and surf bar are colorful and well-kept. A buffet restaurant has half-board packages, but food receives mixed reviews. The property is mostly quiet, though beware that many past guests have complained of cockroaches. Nearby Hotel-Apartamentos Andorra may be a better option, as air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi are available.

Paraiso del Sol Apartments

Scene

Cheerful, albeit dated, budget property

Paraiso del Sol Apartments is housed in a low-rise white building with a bright-orange awning, which is justthe tip of the iceberg of the colorful decor. Interior spaces have bright, colorful accents throughout -- think lime-green and orange chairs by pool, accent walls in vibrant hues, and pink bed runners. Unfortunately, furniture is largely dated and showing wear, and the whole property is in need of a refresh. While the pool sees lots of activity and gets good reviews, many past guests have complained of cockroaches.

Location

Short walk to the beach, bars, and restaurants

The Paraiso del Sol Apartments is located in the Playa de la Americas area of Tenerife, just south of Costa Adeje. Although it's about a 12-minute walk from the center of Playa de las Americas, the sandy shores of Playas de Troya are just a seven-minute walk away. Additionally, some restaurants, bars, and shops are within a five- to 10-minute walk. A majority of guests have found the hotel's location to be quiet, yet central enough. Family-friendly Siam Park is a 14-minute walk. Los Cristianos area is an eight-minute drive and Tenerife South Airport is an 11-minute drive.

Rooms

Spacious, dated rooms with kitchenettes but no AC

Apartments are cheerful and spacious, though dated and showing wear. Expect beige tiling, basic old-fashioned wooden furniture -- most painted blue -- and popcorn walls. Colorful accents such as lime-green throw pillows, pink bed runners, and artwork add some character. A big downside are the numerous fees, for amenities such as fans, Wi-Fi, safes, hairdryers, and irons, plus there's no air-conditioning. Rooms do have furnished balconies or terraces, flat-screen TVs, and kitchenettes. Studios have two-person dining tables, while apartments have four-person tables and couches. Straightforward bathrooms have shower/tub combos and bidets, but no toiletries.

Features

Decent-sized pool, buffet restaurant, and pool bar

There aren't many features at Paraiso del Sol Apartments, so guests looking for on-site entertainment may be a bit disappointed. A decent-sized outdoor pool offers guests a place to relax in the sunshine, and there are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available. Families traveling with children will likely appreciate the small, separate swimming pool for kids. Beside the pool is a snack bar, serving well-reviewed food and drinks at a reasonable price. There's a buffet restaurant too, but it receives mixed reviews. Those who aren't staying half-board may prefer to dine off-site instead. A small playground is on-site, and guests can rent bikes here. WI-Fi is only free around reception.
