Bottom Line

The Ananta Burin Resort is a smallish boutique hotel located on the aptly nicknamed Soi Chic, a side road running up from the main beach road that's home to some of the better properties in Ao Nang. The rooms here are a mix of Thai and modern styles, and while not overly spacious, they do have balconies. A large swimming pool sits at the heart of the resort, and while there is no fitness center and only a tiny massage area, there is a gourmet eatery, Buddy Restaurant, which serves excellent Thai and seafood dishes. The upper-mid-range resort is not quite of the same caliber as some of its neighbors, but it's also not as expensive. The closest beach takes under 10-minutes to reach on foot, but the water is shallow and the shore is rocky.

Ananta Burin Resort

Scene

Happening swimming pool scene and bustling lobby in a resort popular with young couples

The Ananta Burin is a smallish property without a lot of features, and most guests spend their time in their rooms or on the lounge chairs around the pool. The overall atmosphere is casual, and guests tend to dress in T-shirts, shorts, and beachwear. Most of the guests here are younger couples, and the resort caters to a boutique-on-a-budget crowd, as it's one of the more affordable options on its street. Wi-Fi is free in the small lobby, decorated with tropical touches and stylish wicker furniture, meaning that guests regularly congregate in the area with their laptops or mobile devices.

Location

In a side street with other boutique hotels, near restaurants, shops, and a beach

The resort is located about midway along the Ao Nang-Noppharat Tara Beach Road, up a small side street known as Soi Chic due to its numerous boutique-style lodgings. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops in the area, and the center of Ao Nang is a five-minute taxi ride away. The beach takes under 10-minutes to reach on foot, although its lack of white sand, numerous rocks, and shallow water makes it less than ideal for swimming and lounging. The Phuket International Airport is a two-hour drive away.

Features

Large courtyard pool plus gourmet restaurant serving free breakfast

The main feature of the Ananta Burin is its courtyard swimming pool, which takes up most of the hotel's outdoor space. While the pool itself is large and pleasant, the area around it can get pretty crowded and there isn't much space between lounge chairs. There's no spa, but there is a small massage area. The on-site Buddy Restaurant serves a free buffet breakfast as well as Thai food and seafood dishes at lunch and dinner. Specialties include an entire half pineapple or coconut stuffed with giant prawns. Wi-Fi is free only in the lobby.
