Krabi La Playa Resort

With several swimming pools right next to one another, the Krabi La Playa is a popular place to hang out. Guests are found throughout the day at the pools, one of which has direct access from the higher-end rooms, which are popular with couples looking for a romantic touch. The largest pool is popular with families and kids, as well as with the young party crowd who can be seen sitting in the water on bar stools -- the coolest spot in the resort. The Spice Restaurant, right by the pool, attracts plenty of guests with its swim-up bar and crafted presentations of seafood and Thai dishes. The Garden Bar, which has umbrella tables, and lobby with comfy rattan love seats, are also places where guests can linger. There's plenty of room for families, couples, and singles at the Krabi La Playa.

The Krabi La Playa Resort sits back on a small hill within a five- to 10-minute walk to the beach. Located in the center of the Ao Nang-Noppharat Thara Beach Road, the resort is in the vicinity of several restaurants and shops, although it is not smack in the middle of Ao Nang, which is about a  15- to 20-minute walk east -- there are always tuk-tuks and taxis around to transport passengers. The section of the beach nearest to the resort is stony and not great for swimming, compared to the beach at the far end of Ao Nang near the main part of town. But there is a boat pier on Krabi La Playa's beach where boats depart for day trips to Railay, and some of the beautiful islands and beaches in the bay.

There are three categories of rooms at the Krabi La Playa Resort -- Superior, Deluxe, and Pool-Access. All are large, but Superior Rooms are the most sparsely furnished. They all come with safes, mini-fridges, flat screen TV's, free Wi-Fi, and hairdryers. All rooms have balconies, which mostly overlook the large swimming pool, and the higher-end Pool Access rooms have pool patios from which one can  pretty much jump from bed into the water. The Deluxe and Pool Access rooms include robes, slippers, and coffee and tea making facilities. 

Adjoining swimming pools are a big draw at the Krabi La Playa. One pool has direct access from the rooms located along it, and an infinity-edge leads down into the next pool, the largest one, which has a happening pool bar at one end. Also popular here is the poolside Spice Restaurant, which serves a  buffet breakfast, and gourmet seafood dishes and Thai specialties for lunch and dinner. There's also a garden bar for those who want to escape the heat. Other features at the resort include a small kids' club, a small fitness center, and a spa and massage center. Wi-Fi is free throughout the resort.
