Bottom Line

The Twin Lotus Resort & Spa is a large, adults-only beachfront resort with 76 rooms and bungalows on a property large enough that buggies are used to shuttle guests around. All categories of rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, with DVD players and huge furnished terraces. The upscale resort sits toward the quiet northern end of Klong Dao Beach, and is close to Saladan town and the ferry pier for the mainland. Resort features include two swimming pools, two restaurants, a fitness center and spa, bicycle rentals, and a library with books and DVDs. While there are plenty of amenities, prices are high, especially compared to nearby resorts such as Twin Bay or Kaw Kwang.

Twin Lotus Resort & Spa

Scene

Spacious adults-only property with elegant design and tropical grounds

The Twin Lotus Resort & Spa exudes an exclusive elegance from the moment guests arrive at its guarded gates. The lobby is housed in a beautiful thatched-roof stand-alone dwelling surrounded by lotus ponds. This check-in area is furnished with giant cushioned loveseat-style chairs. The property is spacious and filled with green tropical scenery, and there's a garden where the resort grows its own vegetables. Villas and rooms are interspersed throughout the property, all of which are in traditional buildings with immense sloped and tiled roofs. The main hotel building -- a large whitewashed Mediterranean structure -- is located at the beach and houses the Bua Fah restaurant and library. The grounds are large enough that buggies are used to shuttle guests between the rooms, restaurants, lobby, and front gate. It's an elegant and sophisticated property overall, and the adults-only policy keeps it free of guests under 18, making it a good choice for couples.

Location

Located on the quietest part of Klong Dao Beach, a 15-minute walk to town

The Twin Lotus Resort & Spa is located towards the northern end of beautiful Klong Dao Beach on the northwest coast of the island. The resort sits alone on a quiet stretch of sand, and feels secluded even in high season. Klong Dao -- where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops -- is a 15-minute walk away via the beach and then up a small lane. Krabi Airport is two hours away by car, and Phuket International Airport is four hours.

Rooms

Large bungalows and rooms with elegant furnishings, huge terraces, and DVD players

Twin Lotus Resort & Spa has spacious, elegant rooms with huge furnished terraces, flat-screen TVs with cable and DVD players, minibars, safes, kettles, and contemporary bathrooms with robes and slippers. The Deluxe Beachfront Villas and Deluxe Garden Villas are the most expensive lodgings, and are located either right on the beach or just behind it. These bungalows have high ceilings with large ceiling fans plus air-conditioning and bamboo and wood furnishings. Decor in Superior Rooms is not nearly as fancy, but these units are still spacious and have all the same amenities. Their main drawback is their location, in a garden a five-minute walk from the beach and restaurant area. There are buggies to transport guests, but the area almost feels like a separate resort. Larger Deluxe Rooms are also located in this area and also come with big clawfoot tubs in the bathrooms and huge TVs, but because of their location they cost considerably less than the beachfront villas.

Features

Two swimming pools, a large spa, fitness center, and two restaurants, one with free buffet breakfast

The Twin Lotus Resort & Spa has considerably more facilities than most Koh Lanta resorts, including two swimming pools. The Garden Pool is quiet and suitable for lap swimming, while the infinity-edge Beach Pool looks out on the beach and over the sea. There's also a raised deck with stylish lounge chairs overlooking the beautiful beach.

Dining options include the relaxed Baracuda Restaurant & Bar at the beach, which hosts seafood barbecues and offers a wide range of Thai and international dishes throughout the afternoon and evening. The Bua Fah restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and offers a free buffet breakfasts for guests.

The resort also has a decently equipped fitness center with a punching bag and there are mountain bikes and kayaks for rent down by the beach. The on-site Bua Luang Spa offers a variety of treatments and massages. Guest can borrow books from the library, and DVDs can be checked out from the reception free of charge. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
