Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo occupies a massive high-rise building with a white, modern facade on a busy Tokyo street. The lobby is bright and airy, thanks to its high ceilings and inner atrium. But decor is generic and a bit dated: Clusters of lime-green armchairs and gray sofas are arranged in seating areas, and a large flower arrangement dominates the center. The hotel is a popular venue for conferences, and business people in suits can be seen milling around during the day. But the hotel also gets a fair share of tourists, mostly couples or families traveling together. 

Ikebukuro subway and train station is a six-minute walk from the hotel. This is a major station where three subway lines and five train lines cross, making transportation to any part of Tokyo easily accessible. Also, the airport limousine bus service to Haneda International Airport stops outside the hotel. The area is full of shops, restaurants, and shopping centers, making it a convenient place to stay.

The Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo's 807 rooms come in four categories. Standard Rooms are the smallest, at 237 square feet. Though clean and well-maintained, the decor is drab and generic, dominated by neutral shades of beige and brown. The Japanese-style bathrooms are small and have a functional look, with small bathtubs fitted with handheld showerheads, sinks in molded plastic, and electronic toilets. Superior Rooms have a more updated look, with patterned carpeting and floral-patterned bed runners. Yellow accent walls and bright-red bed pillows brighten these spaces. Their bathrooms are bigger and fitted with vessel sinks. Executive Rooms are roomier and have a classier look, with silk pillows on the beds and blinds as well as curtains on the windows. Their bathrooms include separate “wet bathrooms” with full bathtubs and showers sharing the same enclosed space. Suites include separate living and dining areas, and some have separate meeting rooms. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, mini-fridges, electric kettles, air purifiers, slippers, robes, hairdryers, and toiletries. Many offer panoramic city views that can stretch as far as Mount Fuji on clear days. 

Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo has a large array of features, but be aware that many entail extra fees, such as use of the spa and indoor pool, and fitness center. A large breakfast buffet with a selection of Western and Japanese dishes also comes with a fee. Diners are spoiled for choice, with nine on-site food and beverage outlets at their disposal, offering a variety of Japanese, Chinese, and European cuisines. The Est Italian restaurant and Ovest Bar on the 25th floor have stunning panoramic city views. The Cross Dine Restaurant serves buffet-style Western meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Kei-Lin has a menu of Chinese cuisine from Sichuan province. Hanamusashi and Hanamusashi Shunka are the hotel's Japanese restaurants. There are also a cocktail lounge, tea lounge, and two bakeries. The hotel also has a beauty salon, shopping arcade, and drugstore. Other facilities include meeting, conference and banquet rooms. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. On-site garage parking comes with a fee.
