Bottom Line

Suite Dreams provides an intimate bed and breakfast experience inside a family home. This B&B has four suites, each with a private bathroom. It's a clean, cozy environment that's convenient to downtown Toronto. Breakfast is made to order and the prices here are better than many hotels in the area, but it lacks the privacy and amenities common to larger hotels.

Clinton and Bloor B&B

Scene

Friendly, home-like atmosphere

A Suite Dreams is nestled among other newish residences and has a home-like , familial atmosphere. There's a grand piano in the living room and lots of tourist pamphlets near the front alcove, but it's otherwise sparsely decorated, with eclectic prints, plants, and unique, non-matching furniture. The place unquestionably feels like a house rather than a hotel and isn't as uniformly coordinated or polished as some bed and breakfasts.

Location

Located on a quiet street, a short subway ride to downtown Toronto

Suite Dreams is on a quiet street in the residential Annex neighborhood, near Korea Town. It's just off the busy and bustling Bloor Street that runs the length of the city, where many of the area's restaurants and shops are located. The Royal Ontario Museum is about a 30-minute walk away and getting to Toronto University takes about 20 minutes on foot. Christie Station on the Bloor/Danforth subway line is a four-minute walk away; from here, it takes about 10 minutes to reach downtown Toronto.

Rooms

Four guest rooms with private bathrooms, one with a balcony

There are only four rooms available at Suite Dreams; each has a private and clean but spartan bathroom with a shower and bathtub. Each room has a small TV, a mini-fridge, a seating area, and free Wi-Fi -- picture spacious college dorm rooms with queen beds. The Cathedral Suite on the top floor is the best choice and has a small balcony with a view of the garden, a large walk-in closet, and a whirlpool tub. Much like rooms you’d find in a friend’s house, the linens, decorations, and shower curtains are unique and don't follow a matching theme.

Features

Books, a garden, a piano, and cooked-to-order breakfast served when you want it

Suite Dreams has books for guest to read and a piano for the musically inclined to play. There's also a large back patio/garden with areas to sit and relax. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property and while there's naturally no concierge on-site, the proprietor is happy to provide restaurant recommendations or call a taxi. A breakfast of eggs and toast or cereal and yogurt is prepared to order and is served at the time of guests' choosing.
