Bottom Line

Hotel Victoria Turin is an upscale property on a pretty cobblestone street in the heart of Turin, Italy. Tourists will probably like the walkable location with access to restaurants and art museums while business travelers can book the two meeting rooms. A major perk for all guests is free access to the gorgeous Iside Wellness Center, complete with an indoor swimming pool and hamman. Free Wi-Fi and bike rentals are nice perks, but there's a charge for parking in a garage located around the corner from the hotel. It may also be worth considering the more affordable nearby BEST WESTERN Hotel Genova, which also has an indoor swimming pool -- but not quite as much charm.

Hotel Victoria

Scene

A touch of British boutique charm in Italy

The scene at Hotel Victoria is surprisingly British for an Italian boutique hotel. The property focuses on warmth and comfort with artistic and cozy touches. Ivy, pink roses, and potted topiaries in front of the hotel greet guests as they enter from the cobblestone street. Floral and plaid upholstered couches center around an antique fireplace framed by floral stained glass windows in the wood-paneled sitting room. A moody oil painting of a woman hangs over the fireplace. The Egyptian-themed wellness spa, with dramatic white columns and an overhead mural of the starry night sky, is not to be missed.

Location

On a cobblestone street in Turin

The city of Turin is known for its cafe culture, art museums, restaurants, and piazzas. Hotel Victoria Turin is within easy walking distance of all of it, but the location on a pedestrian-only street ensures a quiet stay, free of traffic noises. Parking is available for a daily fee, though the garage is around the corner from the hotel and some guests have complained that arriving with luggage from the garage is difficult. The Turin airport is about a 30-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Victorian-style rooms and suites

Hotel Victoria Turin is on the larger side for a boutique hotel, with 106 rooms and suites. Each is uniquely decorated with British-style furnishing and antiques, though there are some general similarities throughout. All rooms have flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, air-conditioning, and minibars with free snacks and drinks. An upgrade is required for more square feet and marble bathrooms. Duplex Suites are divided into two levels for traveling families, though the green carpet and color palette in the one we saw may be a bit much for some. (Some of the rooms we saw looked plainer and more dated, while others, such as the Deluxe Room with dark hardwoods and pink toile wallpaper, were upscale and charming.) Views overlook the picturesque streets of Turin or the beautifully landscaped inner courtyard. Evening turndown service is a nice touch.

Features

Spa with hamman and swimming pool, daily breakfast, and free bike rentals

Though the Hotel Victoria Turin is a little pricier than its competitors, it does have great features. The Egyptian-themed wellness center has an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, hamman, and steam and sauna rooms. Treatments cost extra. Breakfast gets mixed reviews but the outdoor courtyard where it's served is a serene and peaceful spot. There isn't a restaurant on-site for lunch and dinner, but cold items from room service are available. Free bike rentals are a great way to visit the neighborhood's plethora of gelaterias, restaurants, and museums. If price is more important than charm and features, compare rates at the nearby BEST WESTERN Hotel Genova.
