Bottom Line

Alexandra Resort is a lovely, three-and-a-half-pearl property located on Grace Bay Beach. The resort’s 90 studios and suites are well-kept and inviting, with all offering generously sized balconies or terraces along with sleek kitchenettes or kitchens. The property’s lagoon-style pool has a swim-up bar and hot tub, while the on-site restaurant holds its own against the dining options at neighboring resorts. Overall, Alexandra Resort offers good bang for your buck in the high-priced Grace Bay area, but travelers may still want to compare rates and amenities with Sands at Grace Bay

Alexandra Resort

Scene

Delightful, all-suite property with a friendly, upbeat ambiance

With its beachy color schemes, easy-going vibes, and flower-lined pathways, Alexandra Resort delivers approachable, easy elegance. The property may not be as impressive as that of nearby luxury resorts like Grace Bay Club, but its stylish units and polished facilities offer excellent value (by Provo’s pricey standards at least) and check all the boxes you would expect from an upper-middle-range resort.

Guests are a diverse mix of Western couples, families, and groups of all ages. All suites (not studios) include living areas with queen-size sofa beds, making them ideal for families with kids. The resort’s pool and restaurant area are the main hubs of activity -- expect it to be quite crowded and buzzy most afternoons. The free shuttle to the restaurants at the Alexandra’s two sister resorts is convenient for guests without a rental car, as is the property’s proximity to the shops and restaurants found along Grace Bay Road.

It’s around a 10- to 15-minute walk to the shops at Regent Village and Salt Mills, as well as to the numerous restaurants lining Grace Bay Road. The nearest grocery store can be reached in 20 minutes on foot.

Other nearby attractions include snorkeling at Smith’s Reef as well as Caicos Conch Farm, which are both around 10 minutes away by car. Providenciales International Airport can be reached in about 15 minutes by car.

Rooms

Smart, modern studios and suites with huge balconies/terraces plus kitchenettes or kitchens

Alexandra Resort is comprised of condo-style studios and one- and two-bedroom suites (there’s also a four-bedroom penthouse), all of which were renovated in 2015. Decor varies somewhat from unit to unit, but the general esthetic is relatively uniform: Neutral floors, walls, and furniture, with flourishes of color added by fabrics and artwork -- think blown-up beach photos and vivid, striped pillows. Beds feature comfy feather-top mattresses and white, Egyptian-cotton linens.

Studios offer kitchenettes with microwaves, mini-fridges, and sinks, while suites feature large kitchens with light wood cabinets, granite countertops, and stainless-steel appliances. Suites also have living areas with dining tables and queen-size sofa beds. Free Wi-Fi is standard, and all units include flat-screen TVs in both living areas and bedrooms. Suites also have washers and dryers stored in discrete closets.

Good-sized balconies and terraces offer views of the gardens, pool, or ocean (although most have at least partial ocean views). All balconies include padded loungers, with most also featuring teak dining tables. Master bathrooms (except in studios) have double sinks, glass-walled showers, and separate bathtubs. Studios offer shower/tub combos, and additional bathrooms in suites generally have showers only. All bathrooms are stocked with H2O bath products in a range of beachy scents like Sea Moss and Sea Salt.

Features

Beautiful freeform pool with hot tub, direct access to Grace Bay Beach, and a modest spa

Alexandra Resort’s focal point is a picturesque, lagoon-style pool, framed by well-manicured lawns and palm trees. Tons of loungers (both wood and plastic ones) are scattered around the deck, offering ample seating for guests but causing the pool area to feel a bit crowded during peak hours. A pair of arched footbridges meet at an island in the center of the pool. This area also includes a round hot tub, and there’s a large swim-up bar with submerged seating.

The resort offers direct access to a broad sweep of Grace Bay Beach. Loungers and beach umbrellas are provided for guests, along with non-motorized water-sports equipment like paddleboards, kayaks, snorkeling gear, and Hobie Cats.

The resort’s tiny, key-card accessed fitness center has an adequate range of StarTrac weight machines, plus a trio of cardio machines -- a treadmill, a stationary bike, and an elliptical machine. There are two lighted tennis courts as well. Elevate Spa is compact but pretty, with two treatment rooms (one single room and one couples’ room) decorated in soft, sandy tones. Facials, massages, and mani/pedis are among the treatments available.

A bright shop in the lobby sells a small selection of snacks and souvenirs. This space also includes a single PC and printer for guest use. There’s a contemporary meeting room located inside Asu restaurant, which features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the coast.

Free bike rentals are available. Babysitting, grocery-store shuttles, and use of the kids’ club at Blue Haven Resort are among the other extras offered for additional fees. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, and there’s free self-parking on-site.

Great poolside restaurant and free shuttle to restaurants at the resort’s sister properties

Alexandra’s restaurant, Asu on the Beach, is chic yet casual with white chairs, floor-to-ceiling windows, and an eye-catching orange bar. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant serves a solid menu of international fare along with a few local specialties. It includes a small outdoor lounge area, surrounded by tropical plants. The restaurant provides food and drink service on the beach and by the pool as well.

A Pizza Bar set in a hut outside Asu serves stone baked pizzas and offers a tiny additional outdoor seating area (although it was closed during our visit). Guests have the option of adding a daily meal plan to their room rate for a surcharge. Alexandra also provides free shuttle service to the restaurants at its sister properties, Beach House Turks & Caicos and Blue Haven Resort and Marina
