Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort

This luxury Uluwatu resort offers sweeping views of the Indian
Ocean from its cliffside perch on a secluded spot of rugged coast, delivering a serene escape. It draws lots of couples and honeymooners, though families with kids are also attracted by its spacious villas. The resort consists of grassy-roofed suites and villas, the modern architecture stacked like steps tumbling down to a stunning infinity-edge pool, with lots of lush greenery climbing and weaving its way through the property. A grand, stone staircase leads to the main entrance, where guests are greeted in a sleek, black marble-floored lobby. The large space is fairly spare, with beautiful chairs made of rugged tree stumps that draw the eye and succinctly sum up the aesthetic of the property: sleek and minimalist modernity meets the wild nature of a craggy coast. Colorful abstract art adorns the white walls and the marble front desk is topped with potted flowers
and plants, with more greenery spilling from large planters lining another grand staircase with gorgeous ocean views that leads down the property. Guests should note that the steep grounds are littered with steps, which might be hard to navigate for some, though there is an elevator that goes all the way down to the beach (but doesn't operate all day).

The resort is situated on a cliffside overlooking the Indian Ocean, in a secluded location that’s not within walking distance of anything
besides the beach. The nearby Padang Beach is a four-minute drive, and the property operates a free shuttle. Pura Luhur Uluwatu, an ancient Hindi temple, is about a 15-minute drive and the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is a 25-minute drive. The town of Kuta, with the Ngurah Rai International Airport, is a 40-minute drive.

The hotel’s luxurious suites, Pool Villas, and its deluxe duplex Penthouse offer beautiful ocean or garden views and tasteful modern decor in neutral hues. Sleek wooden furnishings like work desks and nightstands pair well with a textured wooden accent wall, while subdued gray hues of contemporary couches, walls, and floors make a good backdrop for colorful pops of abstract art, as well as the gorgeous views and greenery framed by floor-to-ceiling windows that open on to private balconies with outdoor soaking tubs (some have private plunge pools). The spacious units all have comfortable sitting areas, and are outfitted with flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and DVD players, iPod docks, Bose home stereos, minibars, Nespresso machines, fluffy robes, and free Wi-Fi. Beautiful bathrooms have separate sink areas with large vanities, huge mirrors, and ample
storage space, as well as large walk-in rainfall showers, plus generous amounts of bath products. The large two- and three-bedroom Pool Villas have separate living and dining areas, while the luxurious two-bedroom Penthouse offers stunning panoramic views, a pantry for personal butler service, as well as a private pool and sundeck.

Guests also have access to a rocky beach, though it’s not always swimmable and the elevator that goes down to it does not operate all day (but guests can walk). The hotel operates a free shuttle bus to nearby Padang Beach. There's also a full service spa with five beautiful treatment rooms and a hair salon as well as nail services, plus the hotel has a fitness center and yoga classes are offered frequently.
