Rosellen Suites At Stanley Park

The red exterior of the Rosellen Suites has a modest appearance that blends in with the other residential apartments with which it shares a quiet, tree-lined street. Nicely maintained landscaping on the front lawn spruces up the otherwise retro-looking building. The small lobby has colorful artwork and a patterned floral rug that add a little life to the otherwise generic space. A narrow elevator services all four floors. Guests are a mix of tourists and business travelers seeking home-like stays.

The Rosellen Suites are located in West End, a quiet residential area within walking distance of many attractions. Small, older-looking apartment buildings surround the hotel, and it's a 10-minute walk to Stanley Park and English Bay beach. There are also a Whole Foods and Safeway within 10 minutes on foot. Shopping on Robson Street is a 20-minute trek or a 15-minute bus ride via the nearby SB Denman stop. The Vancouver International Airport is a half-hour drive away, and transfers can be arranged through management. The cruise ship terminal is a 10-minute drive away and it's a 25-minute trip to Granville Island by bus and ferry. 

The property offers 27 spacious one- and two-bedroom suites geared toward guests seeking a home-away-from-home stay. Classic Suites have traditional furnishings and carpet, while Personal-ity Suites have a more modern design with dark wood furniture and floors, and contemporary accents. Many of the designs feel plain and old-fashioned, however, and some rooms on the ground floor don’t have air-conditioning. All rooms have fully equipped kitchens, dining rooms, and comfortable living areas with small flat-screen TVs that include free movie channels. Some suites include fireplaces. Free popcorn and ironing facilities are also provided. Bathrooms include shower/tub combos, basic toiletries, and wall-mounted hairdryers.

The enormous Katharine Hepburn Penthouse Suite has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a whirlpool tub, a deck, and a washer and dryer. This unit can be also be rented out to host dinner parties for up to 40 people or cocktail receptions for up to 100 guests. Housekeeping changes towels and empties the trash on a daily basis and do full cleanings once a week. Twice-weekly housekeeping is available for long-term stays. 

The Rosellen Suites at Stanley Park doesn't offer much in terms of on-site facilities. Guests do get free passes to the Vancouver Aquatic Centre, a five-minute drive away, which has a pool, saunas, and a fitness center. Self-parking is available on-site for a fee and there are laundry facilities at the hotel. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
