Bottom Line

The Vancouver Extended Stay is a mid-range option for guests who want to rent a full apartment for at least three nights. While the apartments are stylish with modern furniture and appliances, and are decked out with full kitchens and laundry facilities (some have balconies), the property doesn't offer much more than accommodations. There's a fitness center, but no public spaces or restaurant. The posh neighborhood of Coal Harbour, and nearby Robson Street, however, offer many choices for dining and shopping, and the beach is within walking distance. Free parking and Wi-Fi are nice perks. Overall, the vibe is corporate and sterile, and perhaps a little dull, but the location is convenient and the units are clean. Check rates at Home Suite Home for another extended stay option; it's got a homier vibe, but a less ideal location.

Vancouver Extended Stay

Scene

High-end apartment condo complex

This property is made up of four tower buildings housing stylish and comfortable apartments. The atmosphere is that of a high-end apartment building, with very little in the way of hotel amenities or spaces. The front desk is located in an office behind a glass door. There's a small lobby with bookshelves and red armchairs, but no one seems to linger. Courtyard-style grounds are well-maintained and landscaped with green lawns, trimmed hedges, and colorful flowers. Business travelers are regular clientele as the financial district is within a five-minute walk, but the kitchens and extra space also appeal to vacationing families.

Location

Upscale Coal Harbour neighborhood in the heart of downtown

The four towers that make up Vancouver Extended Stay are divided between Palisades and Georgia Streets, and both are near Jervis. The buildings are centered around a pretty courtyard and include parking garages. Coal Harbour is a posh residential neighborhood with nearby busy streets filled with shops and restaurants. Popular Robson Street is only one block from Vancouver Extended Stay, and the Coal Harbour Seawall is about seven minutes away on foot.

Rooms

Apartments of one, two, or three bedrooms -- some have balconies with Coal Harbour views

The full apartments at Vancouver Extended Stay are the real highlight here. There are 10 different apartments with one, two, or three bedrooms, plus the choice of a penthouse. Each is renovated and stylish with hardwood floors (some bedrooms are carpeted) and contemporary furniture in great condition. An orange sofa decorated with rivet details, fabric covered headboards, and large flower paintings on the walls are what stand out. Kitchens include a full array of appliances (some stainless steel) and washer/dryers. Bathrooms are basic; they're clean with shower/tub combinations and marble vanities. Bar soap is provided, but shampoo and conditioner are not. Some units include large patios and views of Coal Harbour. Wi-Fi is free and fast.

Note that housekeeping cleans rooms only once every two weeks, so guests on shorter stays will not get that service.

Features

Fitness center, free parking, and a meeting room

Aside from the fitness center, with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a concierge service, features at Vancouver Extended Stay are virtually nonexistent -- it's an apartment facility, not a hotel. The fitness equipment isn't cutting-edge, but it is clean and there are stability balls and weights along with cardio machines. A meeting space is a nice perk for business travelers. Both Wi-Fi and parking are free. Pets are welcome upon request.
