Union Lido Camping Lodging Hotel

The resort is a cross between a small town and an amusement park. The main square, with a variety of shops in quaint, peach-colored buildings, has the feel of a small town. The clean, well-landscaped property is filled with trees and flowers, and children’s amenities -- which includes two separate water parks -- dominate much of the property. The property can get very busy with families, so it’s not the place to go for a quiet escape, though the enforced siesta in the afternoon, during which cars are not allowed on the property, can provide some calm.

The Union Lido is located in Cavallino, on a strip of land between the Adriatic Sea and the lagoon of Venice that's filled with natural beauty. There are some bars and restaurants right near the park, which is easily accessible by both car and public buses. Venice can be reached by bus and boat in under an hour, and bus tickets are available at the resort. The Marco Polo Airport is about 50 minutes to an hour away by car. Note that traffic between the resort and the airport is notoriously bad, especially on Saturdays.

The complex includes a choice of campsites, mobile homes, and the Art&Park Hotel, which has a variety of rooms. Mobile homes range from basic and no-frills to stylish and modern, with small kitchenettes and covered decks. The mobile homes are set close together, so expect to keep your curtains closed if you want privacy. Hotel rooms are clean and bright, with nice hardwood floors, contemporary light-wood furniture, and colorful modern artwork on white walls. All come with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, safes, and hairdryers. Large bathrooms have vanities with a small amount of storage space and walk-in showers.

The Union Lido has plenty for children, including two water parks: the Aqua Park Mare, with a soft-floored pool and a lazy river, and Aqua Park Laguna, a more natural-looking park with sand and waterfalls. There's also a play area on the resort’s beach, along with sun beds for Union Lido guests. Other activities include mini-golf, go-carts, and a log flume-style ride. The main square is filled with clothing and souvenir shops, and on some evenings there is a market where local artisans sell their wares. There are various restaurants on the property, but not much variety in terms of the food that they serve. There are also supermarkets at both ends of the property that sell fresh produce. The bars occasionally have live music and there’s a nightclub for teens.
