Bottom Line

The Inn at the Beach is a 49-room boutique-size property located directly across the road from Venice Beach. Many rooms offer views of the water, and the suites have kitchenettes with eat-in areas. It also has a heated outdoor pool and hot tub set amid lush palm trees, but no on-site bar or restaurant. Other nearby hotels, such as the Beachcomber and the Gulfside Beach Club, might offer lower rates, but often have minimum-stay requirements.

Inn at the Beach

Scene

Boutique hotel with a pool and hot tub set amid a lush landscape

In a yellow building with a burgundy tiled roof, this small property is set amid brick pathways and well-manicured landscaping. The lobby, where the free breakfast is served each morning, has light-colored terra-cotta tiled floors, several dark wicker tables and chairs, and beige walls with dark terra-cotta-colored trim. The rectangle pool is large enough for the small number of rooms here, and the pool deck includes a light brick path, several lounge chairs, tables with umbrellas and chairs, palm trees, and a hot tub.

Location

Located across the street from Venice Beach

The main attraction here is the beach across the road from the hotel. While there isn't much else within walking distance, there are several restaurants within a 10-minute drive, including the Crow's Nest Marina Restaurant, Cafe Venice on the Island, the Saltwater Cafe, and Sharky's on the Pier, as well as some shops. Other attractions require a 30-minute drive, and Sarasota is about 40 minutes away.

Rooms

Beach-themed rooms; some have ocean views

There are Deluxe Rooms, Beachview Suites, and One- and Two-Bedroom Suites, which have ocean views, garden views, or no views at all.  Each brightly lit room has a beach theme, as seen in the palm-tree-printed throw blankets, pillows, and chairs, the framed palm tree prints on the walls, and shutter windows. The bedrooms are carpeted and have flat-screen TVs, and all of the bathrooms come with either a shower or a shower/tub combo. The suites include separate tiled sitting areas with pineapple printed couches, kitchenettes complete with toasters, microwaves, coffeemakers, stove-tops, and full-size refrigerators. Other rooms have mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers. All the rooms have free Wi-Fi.
