Bottom Line

The Hotel Le
Isole is a mid-range, 13-room property set in a quiet, canal-lined street just
minutes' walk from St. Mark's Square. The location is superb for exploring most
of Venice's tourist attractions, though the hotel can be hard to find amongst
the surrounding maze of streets. Rooms are nicely finished, and refreshingly
light on the usual classical Venetian kitsch, though some Economy Rooms are
tiny and street-facing options can get noisy. Breakfast is free, made to order, and can be taken on the lovely terrace. In-room minibar beverages are included in the rate and restocked daily. Rates are certainly high for this
category of hotel, but the location is hard to beat and the extras are attractive.

Scene

Smart, contemporary ambience in restored 16th century palazzo

The Hotel Le Isole is housed in a restored and renovated 16th-century palazzo
typical of most of Venice's canal-front properties. Inside, the property is fresh and
contemporary with traditional accents, such as tasseled drapes and
antique-style furnishings. Polished wooden floors, Venetia Studium
lamps, and gilt paneling give the interiors a chic look. The hotel is
arranged around a secluded central courtyard, offering a welcome splash of
greenery and wicker furniture -- breakfast is served until noon daily, and guests can dine outdoors. The ambience is smart and unfussy, rejecting
the typical overelaborate, flamboyant styling favored by most Venetian hotels,
though at the same time lacking a little in the way of character.

Location

Set on quiet canal in the touristic center of Venice minutes from St Mark's Square

The hotel is
located on a quiet little street overlooking a canal in the touristic center of
Venice. St Mark's Square and its iconic basilica are just a few minutes' walk
away, while the iconic Rialto Bridge is 10 minutes on foot. There are numerous local restaurants and boutique shops in the surrounding area, and the Museo Correr is a six minutes' walk. The city's major museums, such as the Palazzo Grassi and Peggy Guggenheim Collection, are each about a 20 minutes' walk away. The San Zaccaria vaporetto and water taxi stop is also a three-minute walk away, making the hotel easy to
access via public transport. Water taxis cannot stop directly at the hotel, as the canal is too narrow.

Rooms

Modern styling with classical Venetian touches -- and marble bathrooms

The 13 rooms are
styled in modern fashion, though with an emphasis on classical Venetian touches, including brocade fabrics, gilt-framed mirrors, and tasseled drapery. Bathrooms
are finished in marble with wall-mounted hairdryers and heated towel rails,
while other amenities include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi access, and minibars with free beverages restocked daily.
Street-facing rooms can suffer from outside noise -- courtyard room are
quieter. Family Rooms can accommodate up to four people, while Economy, Classic, and Deluxe Rooms sleep two guests. Economy rooms are tiny.

Features

Free breakfast can be enjoyed alfresco in warmer weather

The hotel serves
an extensive buffet breakfast and hot items to order in a smart, modern
breakfast room, or in the pleasant inner courtyard when the weather permits it. Breakfast is
included in the rate and, convenientely, served until noon. The courtyard's
open-air lounge also provides a place to relax with a drink in the evening,
while free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Free coffee, juice, and cookies are available in the lobby throughout the day.
