Bottom Line

This small campsite on the outskirts of Mestre in mainland Venice provides clean and inexpensive campsites and mobile homes within relatively easy access of the Venetian island. Some of the 50 mobile homes come with small, but modern, kitchenettes ,and campsites are also available. There’s also a small indoor pool and a sauna as well as a casual restaurant and a small market. Extra fees for things like towels, Wi-Fi, and use of the pool can add up, but it’s still a steal compared to hotel prices in Venice, which also makes it popular with young budget travelers.

Camping Venezia Village

Scene

This rustic, but stylish enough, property is popular with backpackers and budget travelers.

With its casual, slightly stylish common areas, the property is more like a rustic hostel, attracting backpackers and young couples. The restaurant has the feel of a camp mess hall, with unfinished wood beams and flags of countries around the world strung above white plastic tables and chairs. There’s also a long black-and-white communal table by the bar. The pool area is an attractive space, with a domed wood ceiling and large picture windows overlooking the property.

Location

In an industrial area, 40 minutes to the island of Venice by public transport

The Venezia Camping Village is located in a commercial and industrial area on the outskirts of Mestre that's filled with car dealerships, although just outside the campsite is farmland. The bus into Venice leaves from in front of the camping village, and it's a 10-minute ride into town, where guests can catch a train to the Venetian island. The entire trip takes just under 40 minutes and bus tickets can be purchased at the camping village ahead of time. The Marco Polo Airport is a 10-minute drive away.

Rooms

Tiny and basic, but clean, mobile homes, some with kitchenettes

The campsite’s 50 mobile homes are cramped and spartan but clean, with wide-plank hardwood floors and a mix of dark wood and white linens and fixtures that give the spaces a modern touch. The small sleeping areas are separated from the rest of the rooms by curtains, and the single beds are placed close together. Some rooms come with tiny kitchenettes that include stoves and others just have mini-fridges. The closet-sized bathrooms have narrow stall showers and bidets. All mobile homes have garden-facing porches with metal tables and chairs, and campsites are also available.
