Austria Trend Hotel Messe Prater Wien

The Austria Trend Messe Wien was built in 2005 and has a modern, industrial design that doesn't necessarily carry over to its simple rooms. The spacious, two-story lobby has exposed architectural structures and high ceiling-to-floor windows, creating a bright, open space. There are plenty of seating areas, consisting of contemporary curved chairs, textured red rugs, and low-hanging aluminum lights. Guests tend to congregate in these areas throughout the day, with many grabbing a drink or snack from the lobby bar before heading out to business events at the nearby convention centers. A big breakfast room is attached the lobby, which has a similarly modern feel, contrasted with a striking historical mural opposite the entrance. The hotel attracts a large number of business travelers and tourists, as well as students belonging to the local university. Due to the size of the building, the breakfast rooms and elevators can get busy in the mornings.

Located in Leopoldstadt, the hotel sits between the Messe Wien Exhibition Center and the Vienna Prater Fairground, offering views of its famous Giant Ferris Wheel. It's close to the Economic University campus, and next to a big green park that's popular with joggers. Though it's a little way out of the old town, the U2 Messe-Prater U-Bahn station is around a five-minute walk from the hotel, which takes you into the center of Karlsplatz in around four minutes (a 10-minute door-to-door trip). There are a few restaurants and fast food places in the immediate area, and a popular nightclub is just around the corner. The Christmas markets are also nearby, making it an ideal choice for those visiting in December. Ersnt-Happel Stadion is a 20-minute walk from the hotel, and Vienna International Airport is around a 20-minute drive. 

Though simply-decorated and a tad plain, all 243 rooms of the Austria Trend Messe Wien are clean and comfortable. The color scheme is neutral, with all-white walls and carpeted floors adding a splash of color. All rooms have big windows that let in plenty of natural light, with some offering lovely views of the park. Furniture is minimal, with light wood headboards framing twin or double beds, plus work desks and closets. Modern amenities include 32-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air-conditioning, phones, and laptop safes with a power plug inside, while Suites add Nespresso coffee machines. Guests staying in Executive Rooms will receive an additional welcome drink voucher, free soft drinks, bedtime candy, and an optional late check-out. Bathrooms are clean and fresh, with all-white tiles, heated towel racks, stall showers, spacious countertops, hairdryers, and free eco-friendly toiletries. Suites have a separate bath tub. 

Features are pretty slim at this hotel, and it's best used as a base between business meetings or jaunts into the city. The spacious breakfast room offers a daily continental spread, consisting of freshly baked bread, warm pastries, organic coffee, tea, cereals, and eggs. Breakfast is served buffet style and is not included in the room rates. There's a small lobby bar attached to the front desk, serving a variety of beers, Austrian wines, soft drinks, and snacks. The business center and front desk are available around the clock, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Other services include concierge, tour assistance, laundry, dry cleaning, and there is an electrical vehicle charging station on the premises. This property doesn't have a fitness center, but there are plenty of nice jogging routes in the nearby park. Airport transfer services and on-site parking can be arranged, but there is an additional charge for this.
