MyPlace Premium Apartments - City Centre

MyPlace City Centre is a solid option for travelers who either prefer having the flexibility of full-scale apartments or who need a place to hole-up for longer stays. It's a fresh and modern property, and public interiors juxtapose contemporary and historic design features. Much of the hotel has a sleek and sober air -- think: black and gold colors, plus hardwood floors and chesterfield sofas. But there are nods to the historic location and the original building in the intricate arched ceiling and the stone pillars that stand proud in the lobby lounge. As with many apartment hotels there are no real social spaces, so guests come and go, though the sunny breakfast room can get busy. It's a popular option with mature couples and business travelers, though there's also appeal here for families looking to score extra space.

MyPlace City Centre is on a side street in the center of Vienna's First District (Inner Stadt). There's a supermarket next door, and numerous bars and restaurants are within a few minutes on foot. It's a two-minute walk to the Salztorbrucke tram stop, and about the same to pick up the airport bus. Attractions like St. Stephen's Cathedral are also nearby -- about a five-minute walk from the hotel -- and shopping on popular Karntner Strasse is about 10 minutes away on foot. Schwedenplatz Ubahn station is a five-minute walk away and links with attractions farther afield -- like Schonbrunn Palace (in 30 minutes). The trip to the airport is about half an hour on the direct bus, and not much less by car -- maybe 20 minutes depending on traffic. 

Apartments have a contemporary style that makes this property a nice contrast to the many more traditional hotels found in the city center. They have sharp white walls and dark wood floors, coupled with chic furniture in similar cream and brown tones. A range of configurations are available, from Studios to split-level Maisonettes. They're spacious enough for longer stays, and many categories can suit families or small groups. All apartments have kitchenettes with Nespresso machines, microwaves, stovetops, sinks, fridges, dishwashers, cookware, and tableware. Other standard features include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs in both the bedrooms and living rooms, safes, irons, and free Wi-Fi. The sleek bathrooms have rainfall showers, hairdryers, and pump products. Larger rooms add double sinks.

As a small apartment-style hotel, MyPlace City Centre has a limited set of features. A buffet breakfast is available for a fee in the bright dining room -- standard hot and cold options are available and it's reasonably well-liked by previous guests. No other meals are served on-site. There's a small gym with a selection of cardio machines and weights, and a sauna. The lobby lounge is a nice place to kick back, with a large TV, bookcases full of books, and comfortable chesterfield sofas. The highlight for many guests is the rooftop terrace -- which has superb 360-degree views over the city, including the spire of St. Stephen's Cathedral. Reception is manned all day, though there's not always someone standing waiting. They provide a laundry service, or there's a self-service laundry room in the basement with free washing powder and softener. A simple computer station is available and Wi-Fi is free. There is also a meeting room available to rent.
