Bottom Line

The 123-room Fusion Suites Danang Beach is an upscale hotel with a focus on wellness and relaxation, located across the street from the beach. Daily reflexology sessions and yoga classes are included in all rates, and all food served on-site is MSG-free, healthy, and fresh. Apartment-style rooms feature kitchenettes, living areas, and huge widows offering sweeping mountain or ocean views, and the green-on-white color scheme is stylish and soothing. Fusion Suites Danang Beach

Scene

Stylish beachfront hotel with an array of wellness programs and stunning views

Housed in a striking 23-story tower across the street from the beach, the Fusion Suites Danang is a stylish hotel with a holistic wellness concept that encompasses physical and spiritual health. We arrived early in the morning and the lobby area was abuzz with guests having breakfast in the main restaurant, which is located in the space adjacent to the reception. Beyond that, though, the hotel felt peaceful and relaxing, with a hushed atmosphere and spacious indoor common areas that allow for guests to spread out. The pool area has a friendly, laid-back vibe that is inviting and pleasant, despite the traffic noise from the adjacent main road. During our visit, groups of friends and young couples chatted the morning away on the loungers provided by the hotel, and a waiter came around every so often to take drink and food orders. The spa is generally busy with guests getting their daily 45 minutes of reflexology -- included in all room rates -- but it remains peaceful and soothing, with a faint lemongrass scent and no music. In the evening, the lobby fills with guests and non-guests waiting for the elevator to take them to the rooftop restaurant and lounge, offering sweeping views of the ocean and the mountains.

Although the wellness concept may seem too trendy to some, the hotel has a fresh, down-to-earth approach to health and relaxation, and the interior design is simple but chic, with a soothing lime-green and white color scheme, plus natural woods with clean lines. There may be no advanced yogis or extreme cleansing programs, but those looking to reset their bodies and minds, or get some rest and pampered, will find plenty of options for doing so here. Travelers seeking a resort-style hotel with the same focus on wellness may want to compare rates at Fusion Maia Da Nang, the hotel’s more luxurious and elegant sister property, complete with lovely beachfront gardens, high-end villas, and an excellent spa. For a more central setting, the Sanouva Danang Hotel is an excellent pick in the city center, and some of its rates also include spa treatments.

Location

Slightly isolated beachfront location

Fusion Suites Danang Beach is located across the street from a long, sandy beach lined with local cafes, constructions sites, and a few other hotels. The area is developing fast, but as of spring 2017, there are limited dining and shopping options within easy walking distance. A wider array of restaurants, bars, and shops can be found in the city center, located a 10-minute drive away. Top local attractions such as the Marble Mountains and the Lady Buddha are each about 15 minutes away by car, while the entrance to the scenic Hai Van Pass is about 45 minutes away. The hotel offers shuttle service to Hoi An and the Ba Na Hills several times per day for a fee. Danang International Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Spacious, stylish rooms with sweeping views, kitchenettes, and free Wi-Fi

The hotel has 123 apartment-style rooms, ranging from 400-square-foot Chic Studios to two-bedroom penthouses. All are decorated in a simple but fresh style, with natural wood furniture, laminate floors with tiled areas, and a soothing color palette that combines white surfaces and mint-green accents. Clean, almost minimalist lines make rooms feel uncluttered, and huge windows offering mountain or ocean and city views, and open-concept closets add even more visual space. Kitchenettes are equipped with stovetops, full fridges, microwaves, sinks, and electric kettles with free tea and coffee. Blenders are available on request free of charge. Fridges are stocked with an array of drinks and snacks available for purchase, but free water is provided daily in all rooms. Dining areas have as many chairs as the maximum capacity of the room, and even the smallest rooms have at least a small seating area with a couch, a coffee table, and a flat-screen TV with international channels. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.

Beds at Fusion Suites Danang Beach are some of the most comfortable we’ve found in Vietnam, with four-inch pillow tops, four pillows, and plush duvets with crisp white linens. All rooms feature either a king bed or two big twins, and two-bedroom units have bunk beds with a double-sized bed on the lower level in the second room. Heat-control technology incorporated into the windows keeps rooms light but fresh, and all rooms have powerful air-conditioning.

Bathrooms have large walk-in rainfall showers, an array of toiletries provided in large containers, plenty of towels of varying sizes, and hairdryers. Fusion and Ocean Suites also feature separate rainfall showers and soaking tubs.

Array of wellness options, two restaurants, a rooftop lounge, and a beachfront pool

The hotel has no shortage of amenities catering to those seeking to relax, get pampered, and take care of their body. The spa is small but appealing, with airy spaces decorated in a white and beige color scheme with lots of wood accents, and a large foot massage room where an army of therapists provide daily reflexology sessions to all guests free of charge. We tried the 45-minute foot massage and found our masseuse skilled and precise. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, with soft lighting and a refreshing lemongrass scent. The yoga studio has large windows offering ocean and mountain views, and the class schedule includes five types of yoga and tai chi, all suitable for beginners. Delivering panoramic city, mountain, and ocean views and an array of cardio and strength-training machines, the fitness center is a nice spot for a full workout.

Fresh Grab and Go is the hotel’s main restaurant, serving an excellent breakfast and healthy, MSG-free cuisine for lunch and dinner. The morning spread includes hot and cold options, such as fresh fruit, salads, veggies, cold cuts, homemade pastries and breads, and two types of pho. The hot selection changes daily, and juices are made with fresh fruits each morning. The hotel also offers the option of having breakfast anywhere and at any time of the day free of charge. Lunch and dinner menus are also available at Zen Rooftop Lounge, which features an acoustic live band a few days per week, and happy hour daily.

The infinity pool is long and appealing, with a number of loungers and umbrellas, direct access to the beach club, and expansive beach views. It is located across the street from the hotel and traffic noise be heard from the chairs, but there is always music playing, and the atmosphere is lively. A possible downside for families is that there's no kids' club on-site.
