Bottom Line

Holiday Beach Danang is an upscale beachfront hotel offering resort-style amenities at city center prices. Its 94 rooms are clean and include high-end mattresses, nice open bathrooms with rain showers, and solid amenities such as smart TVs and free Wi-Fi. The spa is a definite highlight, with 19 treatment rooms, a nail salon, relaxation areas, and five rooms for sauna therapies. The main pool is closed as part of the extensive renovations being carried out at the hotel, but the small rooftop pool is a pleasant spot. Much nicer, though, is the beach across the street, where the hotel has a full restaurant and a number of loungers and umbrellas that guests can use free of charge. Travelers seeking a beachfront pool may want to compare rates at Fusion Suites Danang Beach.

Holiday Beach Danang Hotel & Resort

Scene

Upscale beachfront hotel currently undergoing expansion

Holiday Beach Danang Hotel & Resort first opened in 2013 as a single tower with 94 rooms, a mid-sized pool, and a restaurant, and has expanded throughout the years. The large spa building was added in 2015 and the hotel is currently undergoing extensive renovations again, with a large new structure being built next door. During our March 2017 visit, the skeleton of the new building was almost complete, and we were told by the management that it should be ready for a soft opening by early 2018. The new building will house 131 additional rooms, a convention center, a large rooftop pool, and another restaurant. For now, and despite the fact that the large construction site next door is quite an eyesore, the hotel is fully operational save for a few temporary things. The original pool, located on the ground floor adjacent to the lobby, is closed for good, but there is a tiny pool on the rooftop that guests can use while the new pool is being built.

The small size of the temporary pool, the hotel’s location across the street from a wonderful beach, and the free shuttle service to Hoi An and Da Nang means the hotel remains quiet during the day. The beach club is popular among guests and non-guests alike when the weather is nice, but the spa is definitely the busiest part of the hotel. We took a quick look in the morning and saw a number of guests waiting for their treatments to begin. When we went back in the evening to get our massage and try out the Himalayan saunas, the spa was even busier. Still, the atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful at all times, as the many waiting and relaxation areas allow for guests to spread out.

The large spa draws mostly South Korean and Japanese travelers to the hotel (some rates include spa treatments), but we also saw a number of Australian couples.

Location

On a long, sandy beach a 10-minute drive from the city center

Holiday Beach Danang Hotel & Resort is located directly on the coastal road connecting Da Nang and Hoi An’s beach areas. There's a beautiful, sandy beach right across the street and a handful of seafood restaurants a short walk away, but little else of general interest can be found in the immediate area. The neighborhood isn’t the most beautiful either, as there are lots of construction sites around and streets are generally empty. Da Nang -- home to dozens of dining and drinking options, and a few well-known markets -- can be reached in about 10 minutes by car. The Marble Mountains and the Lady Buddha are each within a 15-minute drive of the hotel. The entrance to the scenic Hai Van Pass is about 45 minutes away. The hotel offers free shuttle service to both Da Nang and Hoi An. Danang International Airport is a 15-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Classic rooms with upscale amenities and contemporary bathrooms; most have sea views

The hotel has 94 rooms and suites across six categories. All are decorated in a classic style, with polished cream-colored floor tiles (hardwood floors in suites) and dark wood furniture. Large padded headboards in off-white hues and small metallic accents in tables and door inlays are more contemporary touches, but the design is simple and understated overall. Most rooms get at least a side view of the beach, and many have panoramic vistas. With the construction of the new building, views in some Superior Rooms will be limited.

Superior Rooms are the smallest of all six categories and can feel a little tight. Deluxe Rooms are just slightly bigger and have better views of the ocean. Standard amenities include smart TVs, free Wi-Fi, individually controlled air-conditioning, minibars, electric kettles with free tea and coffee, safes, and free water that gets replenished daily. Some suites also come equipped with massage chairs.

Bathrooms have an open floor plan in all rooms, with frosted glass doors around the shower and toilet cabins for privacy. The combination of beige stone-like floor and wall tiles and gleaming taps with curved lines lend bathrooms a stylish contemporary feel. Suites have a sleek black-and-white color scheme, along with deep soaking tubs and separate showers. Superior and Deluxe rooms have either rain showers or shower/tub combos.

Features

Beach club, all-day dining restaurant, rooftop pool with panoramic views, and an excellent spa

Features here focus on relaxing and provide excellent value with the low rates. The hotel is connected to the beach via a pleasant and well-lit underpass, complete with a few shops, a pottery workshop (where guests can get free classes), and an area for kids that features a playground and a 4D movie theater with free movies. The beach itself is long and sandy, with a few palm trees for shade, playground equipment, a number of umbrellas and loungers for guests (non-guests can rent them as well), and a restaurant. The other main dining option at the Holiday Beach Danang Hotel & Resort is Aloha Restaurant, located off the lobby. It serves a free breakfast buffet with Vietnamese and Western options, as well as an international menu with a few regional dishes. There's also a lounge on the 16th floor offering the same menu as at the restaurant, plus panoramic views and outdoor seating. The hotel closed its main pool when construction of the new building began, but there is now a tiny, temporary pool on the rooftop with panoramic views and two small decks with seating.

The spa is housed in a large, separate building directly adjacent to the hotel. The spa features 19 treatment rooms, a nail salon with beach views, and five saunas, including one with Himalayan salts, one with volcanic rocks, and a cold sauna. There's also a large relaxation area with private nooks, infrared rays, and soft instrumental music. All treatments begin with tea and small bites of caramelized ginger or other sweets. The fitness center provides a good variety of slightly dated cardio and strength-training machines.

For business guests, there's a meeting room with a dedicated area for serving coffee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.

Free shuttle service is provided to Hoi An and Da Nang.
