Bottom Line

This upscale boutique hotel with 60 guest rooms is located on Le Thanh Ton Street, known as “Little Tokyo” because of its many Japanese restaurants and shops. It clearly caters to a Japanese clientele, offering Japanese-style decor, a Japanese restaurant, and even Japanese-style electronic toilets. Air-conditioning, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, and electric kettles are standard in-room amenities, while upper-category rooms also feature microwave ovens. However, some rooms are windowless and there have been complaints of problems with street noise and poor overall soundproofing. On-site features are a rooftop plunge pool, a bar, a spa, and small gym. Rates here are competitive, but travelers may also want to check out Eastin Grand Hotel Saigon, which offers a large outdoor pool, several restaurants, and a free airport shuttle.

The hotel clearly caters to Japanese business travelers, and features an elegant Japanese design aesthetic. The elegant lobby is done up in lots of dark-wood paneling, and there are several atmospheric, Japanese-style accents like lanterns, large vases, low tables, and potted plants and flower arrangements. Wood-beamed ceilings and cherry-blossom branches further the look. The hotel is popular with business travelers as well as leisure travelers, thanks to its location in central Ho Chi Minh City. The daily free afternoon tea is especially popular and offers a chance for guests to meet and mingle.

Rooms

Elegant and well-equipped guest rooms with a Japanese-inspired design theme

The Japanese design theme prevalent in the public areas of the hotel carries over to its elegant guest rooms. Floors are covered in dark hardwood, and the rooms are furnished with minimalist pieces of wood-grain furniture, including streamlined work desks and chairs and round bedside tables. Framed black-and-white photographic prints decorate the walls. The bathrooms either have glass walls and doors, or the bathtubs are located in the bedrooms, as are the vessel sinks. Executive Rooms have separate soaking tubs and showers, and all rooms feature Japanese-style electronic toilets with “wash and dry” functions. Colorful, mismatched tile gives the bathrooms a bit of whimsy.

Air-conditioning, 42-inch wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, minibars, and electric kettles come standard, and the hotel provides free drinking water, irons and ironing boards, hairdryers, and bathrobes. Premier Deluxe and Executive Rooms also have microwaves. Some of the rooms have city views, while others are windowless and have no views at all. Past guests have complained of poor soundproofing between rooms and problems with street noise in the street-facing rooms.
