Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village

Four Seasons Westlake Village is a luxury hotel set just off the main road, with expansive grounds consisting of clusters of medical offices, full trees, a beautiful waterfall, and plenty of green spaces to stroll. Built in 2006, the property has the signature feel of The Four Seasons brand, with an emphasis on east-Asian design and decor. One unique feature is a traditional Chinese pagoda that was originally created in China before it was deconstructed and rebuilt on the grounds. Polished, elegant interiors are a mix of Old World style and Asian influences, featuring antique pieces as well as bold and colorful prints. While there's a myriad of activities here available to guests, the overall vibe is of relaxation and rejuvenation; there's an entire wing of the hotel dedicated to wellness, focusing on Eastern medicine but also utilizing Western technology. The hotel's clientele is primarily business folk taking part in conferences, as well as couples and groups of friends on spa or wedding getaways.

The hotel is located about an hour northwest of Los Angeles in the quiet, family-friendly, and affluent suburb of Westlake Village. Designed to be a sort of medical retreat, there's not much of interest within the immediate surroundings, so a car is needed to reach the beach or other activities. Malibu Beach, Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area, and several local wineries can be reached within 30 minutes or less by car. The closest winery, Saddlerock Ranch Winery, can be seen from the hotel windows. LAX Airport is just over an hour's drive from the property, though travel time is highly dependent on traffic. Self and valet parking is available, both for a fee. 

All 270 rooms and suites within the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village are classically decorated with polished wood furniture, hardwood floors with patterned rugs, and printed fabric drapes. Though well-presented, the traditional design with multiple colorful patterns can appear dated to some travelers. Still, amenities are top-notch, including iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, bathrobes, and coffeemakers. Gorgeous marble bathrooms have bathtubs and separate showers, L'Occitane toiletries, and small TVs by the vanities. Upgrading to one of the suite categories will add perks such as dedicated lounge space and Nespresso machines. Vistas vary, with some overlooking the lovely waterfall and surrounding mountains; from some rooms, guests can also see Paramount Ranch, a frequent filming location for Hollywood Westerns. The Presidential Suite is the most luxurious option, with a separate dining room, executive desk space, a work room, service staff entrance, walk-in closet, and a beautiful canopy bed.

This enormous hotel's standout feature is its comprehensive wellness center, where travelers will find an 1100-square-foot spa and large fitness center with spin and yoga classes. The Eastern medicine-themed wellness center is also home to an anti-aging clinic, serene adult-only pool with drink and food service, healthy cooking classes, and several medical offices, including a dentist. 

Family-friendly features include an indoor family pool, teens' and kids' clubs, an arcade and game room with pool and ping-pong tables, and free stays for up to two kids (under age 17) that stay in the same room as their parents. 

Business features include a 24-hour business center, tons of event space, on-site catering, and a ballroom. Guests can expect to see corporate events or weddings during their stay. The hotel offers free standard Wi-Fi for use on two devices, or guests can pay to upgrade to four devices and faster speeds. Additionally, pets up to 15 pounds are allowed for a fee. 

The hotel has two main restaurants, both upscale/casual spots. Onyx, the Japanese restaurant, serves sushi, sashimi, and rolls and has a large saltwater fish tank. Lobby Lounge serves a casual American menu and is host to a champagne brunch, fresh seafood dinners, and Italian specialities, plus it offers lovely views of the waterfall. Drinks are served poolside by the adult-only pool, in the Bar -- a casual spot that has happy hours and pub food -- and the snazzy terrace bar, Lookout. There's also a small, classy Tasting Room where guests can sample local wines. Or, guests can visit the nearby Saddlerock Ranch Winery where they will receive discounts.
