Bottom Line

The 88-room Village of Loon Mountain is an average mid-range mountain resort catering to families and groups on a budget. Located right across the road from Loon Mountain Ski Resort, the property is a convenient pick in the winter, but with indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, a games room, and sports facilities, there is plenty to do on-site year-round. Spacious condos have up to three rooms, full kitchens, and living rooms with gas fireplaces, but most could use an update, and a few lack air-conditioning. The Mountain Club on Loon across the road has similar amenities but rates are generally higher.

The Village Of Loon Mountain

Scene

Aging mid-range condo resort popular with families on a budget

Surrounded by green hillsides that turn into ski slopes in the winter, the Village of Loon Mountain is a popular pick among families and groups seeking easy access to outdoor activities. Built parallel to the road, the hotel offers picturesque views of the Loon Mountain Ski Resort slopes and the mountains around it from common spaces and many of its rooms. The lobby is spacious and bright, with two-story windows, high ceilings, and lots of wood accents. Lodge-like touches such as wood paneling and exposed stone fireplaces are charming, but old-fashioned couches with mismatched '80s-style upholstery lend the space a dated feel. The rest of the common spaces are also showing some age, with worn carpeting throughout, tired indoor pool areas and locker rooms, and basic, uninspired finishes. Rooms are also in need of updates, but affordable rates and spacious multi-room condos make it a solid option for families on a budget.

Rooms

Mostly dated mullti-room condos with full kitchens, living rooms, fireplaces, and balconies

The hotel has 88 spacious one-, two-, and three-bedroom condos, most of which look out over the mountains and feature narrow balconies with plastic chairs. Most units here are time-shares, and while a handful have received a few superficial updates, they are generally dated, with gray floor tiles in the kitchens and the bathrooms, worn carpets, basic pine-wood furniture, and old-fashioned printed bedspreads. All condos have full kitchens equipped with stovetops, fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and dishwashers. Living areas are roomy and comfortable, with dining tables, couches, flat-screen TVs, and DVD players, but some units lack air-conditioning. Gas fireplaces make the spaces a little cozier, but the earth-tone palette is bland overall. Bathrooms are functional and have shower/tub combos and basic toiletries. Fresh towels are provided daily, but housekeeping is only available on request.

The hotel also provides outdoor sports facilities for the warmer months, including basketball and tennis courts and a few bikes for rent.
