Bottom Line

Days Inn Williams is a popular stopover hotel for families on their way to the Grand Canyon, an hour away. Rooms at this reasonably priced, pet-friendly hotel are large and modern and come with flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges. Amenities include a heated indoor pool, free (but oftentimes slow) Wi-Fi, and a better-than-average free breakfast. Compare rates at The Lodge On Route 66, which also has affordable rooms along with a bit more small-town charm.

Oyster Hotel Review

Days Inn by Wyndham Williams

Scene

Pleasant, affordable hotel with generic chain decor; popular with families

The two-story Days Inn Williams has a plain facade with a triangular roof that makes it resemble a retirement home (or most other Days Inns around the country). Inside, there's a clean, modern lobby with leather chairs, inset spotlights, fresh plants, and white walls. It leads straight to a small shop that sells snacks and sundries and has a coffee station. There's also a breakfast area -- Daybreak Restaurant -- and a pool room featuring Mexican stone flooring. Many of the guests here are just stopping through on their way to the Grand Canyon, and the hotel gets a lot of families.

Location

Off the I-40 and directly on old Route 66; a one-hour drive from the Grand Canyon

The Days Inn is located off of Interstate 40 and Route 66, an hour from the Grand Canyon. The local area is more of a stopover than an attraction unto itself, although there are a few things to do in the area. Elephant Rocks Golf Course is a six-minute drive from the hotel, as is downtown Williams, home to popular restaurants and watering holes including the Grand Canyon Winery and the Grand Canyon Brewing Company. The Big Toy Playground is a fun attraction just 15-minutes away and is a dream come true for Tonka toy aficionados. For the hikers, the Beale Wagon Road Trail -- about an hour away -- is a popular Grand Canyon alternative.

Rooms

Contemporary, but generic rooms with air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs

The rooms at the Days Inn are generally spacious and come with mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, mini-safes, and leather club chairs. Leather headboards and sapphire-blue carpeting detract from the otherwise generic feel. Bathrooms are as generic as they come, with granite countertops, wall-mounted hairdryers, and small shower/tub combos. The Presidential Suite has a dedicated living area with sofa and club chairs, as well as a hot tub, but its open floor plan may not be to everyone's liking.
