Bottom Line

Built in 2010, this 77-room, all-suite hotel is one of the best values in the area, considering the amount of space and range of amenities. Families are the norm here, especially during the summer, though business travelers will find ample perks. The decor is fresh and modern, the suites spacious, and the location is central to top Williamsburg attractions.

Comfort Suites Bypass

Scene

Family-friendly with surprisingly stylish decor

Despite a generic location in a sprawling parking lot with a chain restaurant next door, this Comfort Inn feels surprisingly fresh and attractive. The lobby’s high ceilings and natural light make for a warm welcome, and the decor delivers a modern, funky feel. Black-and-white striped floors, red walls, and sleek futuristic furnishings are paired with unusual touches such as ceramic hands reaching out of the walls -- a bit over-the-top, but certainly memorable.

Families make up the bulk of the clientele, especially during the summer due to attractions like Busch Gardens and Water Country USA.  Business travelers and tour bus groups visiting Colonial Williamsburg and nearby outlet malls occasionally pass through as well. The free hot breakfast buffet draws a lot of guests, and by 8:30 the dining area can get crowded, so go early to avoid the family fray.
