Bottom Line

The upper-middle-range Inns of Geneva National has six units, each with six separately booked bedrooms and bathrooms, and rustic shared common areas with stone fireplaces, dining and living areas, and full kitchens, making this property popular with groups. Bedrooms are large and include mini-fridges, whirlpool tubs, and Keurig coffeemakers. Guests can use the Geneva National Resort’s generous facilities, which include three golf courses, a spa, five pools, a fitness center, and several restaurants and bars. Rooms come with a daily resort fee, but shuttle service to Lake Geneva and bike and golf club rentals come at no extra charge. It’s a 15-minute drive to the town of Lake Geneva, so travelers seeking a hotel closer to the action might want to consider the Mill Creek Hotel, which doesn't have as many facilities but has lower rates.

Inns Of Geneva National

A mix of communal and private spaces designed for group travelers

Given its setup -- units with six separately booked bedrooms and shared common areas with kitchens and living rooms -- this hotel is a popular spot for family reunions, wedding parties, and golf getaways. The self-contained units make it easy to spend lots of time with friends or family. Spacious common areas have a rustic ambience, with large stone fireplaces in the living rooms, antler chandeliers, and wood beams running along the vaulted ceilings. Comfy leather sofas and armchairs, dining tables, and adjoining full kitchens enhance the homey vibe. Location

On the grounds of the Geneva National Golf Club, near Lake Geneva's town center

The Inns of Geneva National is located in a secluded, wooded area on the grounds of the Geneva National Resort, about one mile from the club entrance off Highway 50. The shops and restaurants in downtown Lake Geneva and Lake Geneva Public Beach are about 15 minutes away by car. The lake itself can be reached in about a seven-minute drive. The Club provides shuttle service -- at no additional cost beyond the resort fee -- to various points throughout the grounds and to town, as well as bikes that guests can use to get around during their stay. Big Foot Beach State Park is a 20-minute drive away. Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport is a 50- to 60-minute drive away, and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport is about a 90-minute drive from the resort.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with mini-fridges, Keurig coffeemakers, and whirlpool tubs

The rooms at Inns of Geneva National are tastefully decorated in a traditional style, with muted earth tones of beige, light brown, and gray as the dominant colors. Rustic, lodge-style furniture includes dressers, nightstands, and small tables, some of it in an ebony finish. The beds are awash in soothing neutral textiles: white bedding, beige or brown bed throws, and tan bed skirts, as well as padded upholstered headboards with floral prints. Pearl-gray colored leather ottomans rest at the foot of many beds. Armchairs in gray or red give a cozy spot to sit. Standard amenities include mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi.

Spacious tan-granite vanities are placed outside the small and somewhat dated bathrooms -- some bathrooms have additional granite vanities in them as well. Beige-tile bathrooms include shower/tub combos with whirlpool tubs and sets of toiletries.

Rooms come in Double Queen or King with single daybed options. Ground-floor Double Queens open onto the units’ patios. The six-bedroom units are designed for groups, but couples or solo travelers can rent individual rooms in the complexes, meaning they could be sharing the common areas with groups or other travelers on their own. Past guests have complained about noise from neighboring rooms and the common areas.
