The two-and-a-half-pearl Baymont Inn & Suites Asheville/Biltmore offers affordable rates and a convenient location for travelers visiting Biltmore Estate and Village, which is an eight-minute walk away. It’s a tidy but no-frills property, with a small indoor pool/whirlpool and cramped fitness center and breakfast room. But breakfast, Wi-Fi throughout, and on-site parking are free, and there's a guest laundry room. Its 71 guest rooms are clean and comfortable, but decor is dated. Amenities are a plus, with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers. Overall, it offers one of the best values near Biltmore for travelers who only need to basics. Travelers looking for a step up who don't mind spending more can consider DoubleTree Hotel Asheville – Biltmore across the street.
Scene
A quiet tourist hotel with a small but pleasant lobby
Tourists visiting nearby Biltmore Estate are the primary clientele here. The small lobby has an open living room design, with handsome furniture clustered around a flat screen TV above a wood-framed gas fireplace. Potted tropical plants and nature-themed artwork add life to the rather dark space that has low ceilings. The black granite front desk sits directly across from the seating area, and the modest breakfast room is just off the lobby. It gets quite crowded at peak morning hours, when finding a place to sit can be challenging. Otherwise, the hotel remains relatively quiet, with few guests lingering in the lobby past breakfast or registration.
Location
Within walking distance to Biltmore Village, near shops and restaurants
The hotel is conveniently located for tourists, as it’s an eight-minute walk or three-minute drive to the shops and restaurants in Biltmore Village, which is next to the entrance of the Biltmore Estate. Some restaurants are even closer, and a gas station and convenience store are next door to the hotel. Driving to downtown Asheville takes approximately 10 minutes, and the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitors Center is seven minutes by car. It’s a 20-minute drive to the Asheville Regional Airport, and the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in South Carolina is 75 minutes away.
Rooms
Comfortable but dated, with microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers
Travelers who have stayed previously in mid-range chain hotels will find many similarities in these comfortable rooms. The decor is tasteful and pleasant enough, but somewhat dated. Walls are white, other than light brown accent walls behind the beds, covered with white duvets and gray bed runners and bolster pillows. The milk chocolate-colored carpet mixes nicely with the matching, amber wood furniture, which includes headboards and desks with office chairs. Units are generally tidy and they're average in size, with enough space to include armchairs in the Queen we saw. Double Queens and larger suites with in-room whirlpools also are available. Amenities are a plus, and include microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Granite vanities are placed outside the bathrooms, which are generically bland but wide, and bathrooms have shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. Views are nothing special and while most rooms are relatively quiet, those on lower floors facing the busy road tend to hear more ambient noise.
Features
Free breakfast, indoor pool/whirlpool, and free Wi-Fi, but small gym and one elevator
This value hotel offers nice freebies, such as breakfast that includes boiled eggs, hot waffles, cereal, and other typical continental fare, and free coffee and cookies are offered each afternoon. Parking is free on the property’s surface lot, but it can be hard to find a space when the hotel is full. Wi-Fi throughout is also free. Some amenities, however, have drawbacks. The fitness center has only three pieces of cardio equipment wedged together in a cramped space, and heated indoor pool also is small (although it has a whirlpool). A computer and printer in the lobby serve as the business center, and there's also vending machines on-site. Valet dry cleaning and laundry services are available, and there's a guest laundry room, but it has only one washer/dryer. Some past guests have complained about long waits at the hotel's one elevator.
