Best Western Atlantic City Hotel

This Best Western appeals to couples and some families looking for budget-friendly accommodations close to the excitement of the beach and boardwalk. Though it is a short walk to these popular areas, guests note that the neighborhood around the hotel feels seedy and some are uncomfortable going out at night. Inside, the hotel is well-kept and guests are more at ease. The lobby is small and modest: The front desk has a touch of contemporary flair and crown molding adds style, but a dated sitting area, striped wallpaper, and underwhelming artwork contribute to a generic feel. The breakfast room can get crowded, but otherwise there’s no on-site gathering spot, so things stay quiet.

BEST WESTERN Envoy Inn is a couple of blocks away from Atlantic City’s boardwalk, and a four-minute drive from the expressway. From the hotel, it is a one-minute walk to a convenience store and a liquor store, and there are several restaurants within a seven-minute walk. It is a four-minute walk to Artlantic: Wonder Park, a free outdoor art gallery. Atlantic Avenue, with its many shops, is a three-minute walk from the hotel, while it's six minutes to the boardwalk next to Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum and the Central Pier Arcade. Tanger Outlet Mall is a three-minute drive away. It is a four-minute drive to Absecon Lighthouse, with beautiful views of the city and shore. From the hotel, it is a three-minute walk to the nearest public bus stop. Atlantic City Airport is a 25-minute drive away, but the closest major hub is Philadelphia International Airport, a 65-minute drive from the hotel. 

Contemporary rooms are simply done in neutral colors -- usually shades of brown and beige -- and have a few accents in the green bed runner and curtains, and a colorful chair. Though the design is generic, most guests find rooms clean and functional. All rooms have a microwave, mini-fridge, coffeemaker, flat-screen TV, and an ironing board. Upgrades offer options such as a sitting area and a whirlpool tub. Bathrooms are also basic and clean with a curtained shower/tub combo, a hairdryer, and free soap and shampoo. Windows look out over the city, with little appeal to the view. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms available. 

A free continental breakfast is served in an area off the lobby. The buffet consists of self-service pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, eggs, cereals, and breads. Guests are generally satisfied with the offerings. The dining area is simple, decorated with a few photographs of Ferris wheels typical of the boardwalk. A tiny fitness room has just enough space for three cardio machines and a weight training bench, which was out of order at the time of our visit. The business center listed on the website is a computer desk in the lobby with internet access and free printing. Parking is free on weekdays, but there is a fee on weekends. Wi-Fi is free everywhere in the building.
