Scene
Stylish but cozy apartment hotel on the harbor
Located near the Convention Center, the starkly stylish Stay Copenhagen is suited to business travelers but gets a fair share of leisure travelers too. Sleek and minimalist, the
lobby area and breakfast room still manage to feel cozy -- likely due in part to the low-flung ceilings covered with playful stencil-style drawings, touches of color in the couch pillows, and the installation art. The breakfast restaurant
is homey, with a fireplace and large wooden tables that
look as if they were plucked from a farmhouse kitchen that complement the hotel's industrial-style furniture. The gorgeous rooftop terrace has become a popular spot to host evening events.
Location
Located on the harbor in quiet Islands Brygge, which is near the business district
The
hotel is situated in a sleekly designed complex that overlooks the harbor in an area that doesn't see a lot of traffic. It's near the Convention Center and business district, but the closest metro station is a 15-minute walk away. There is a large shopping center with restaurants across the harbor from the hotel, which can be reached via a bike bridge. The airport is about a 10-minute drive away, or 40 minutes away on public transportation.
Rooms
Stark, minimalist rooms with with full kitchens, dining areas, and balconies
All 172 units at Stay Copenhagen are apartments -- with 12 different styles that range from from studios ("Ateliers") to large Lofts and a Penthouse. They come with fully equipped kitchens, long, black dining tables, washers and dryers, large flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and small balconies that offer great views of the harbor and city skyline. The Penthouse has two triangular terraces that run the length of two
sides of the apartment. Most rooms have white walls and floors, and streamlined black furniture -- the whole effect is futuristic. The beds are stylish and inviting, and have cushions with small yellow buttons that add a pop of color on the gray and white bedding. Bathrooms follow the same stark design, and include spacious stand-in showers and toiletries.
