Bottom Line

The 37-room Hotel Accord is a budget option located in Santacruz East, close to the airport and train station. The hotel provides free transportation to and from the airport, which makes it convenient for travelers passing through. Rooms here are a mix of run-down units and those that are a bit more modern, but all are air-conditioned and have free Wi-Fi. The more pleasant rooms feature bamboo furniture and tribal art, and add mini-fridges, electric kettles, and snack baskets. Breakfast is free, and although the hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, room service is offered around the clock. A lovely rooftop terrace is a nice place for hanging out, though the area isn't exactly scenic. As an alternative, the Midland Hotel next door is similarly priced and appointed.

Scene

Basic family-run hotel suitable for travelers in transit

Open since 1985, this family-run hotel is a barebones place to crash for a night on your way to or from the airport. It's looking a bit worn around the edges in spots, but some rooms have been upgraded. Aside from the merely functional lobby, the only other public space is a terrace on the rooftop, where breakfast is served. It's a lovely space with tables and chairs shaded by umbrellas, and it's surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. Given the somewhat charmless location and lack of features, guests are rarely here for more than a night. However, as it's close to the airport and train station, this hotel targets mostly budget businesspeople and travelers passing through via plane or train.

Location

Location in Santacruz East district, close to train station and airport

This hotel is situated on busy Nehru Road in the Santacruz East district, surrounded by restaurants, shops, and banks. The Santacruz Train Station is just three minutes away on foot, and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is about a 15-minute drive. The hotel provides free transportation to and from the airport. Trendy, high-end Bandra is a 15-minute drive from the Accord as well, depending on traffic. Otherwise, this property isn't really close to any of the city's main sights. Juhu Beach is about 25 minutes away by car, while Chowpatty Beach -- a famous local hangout spot -- takes over 50 minutes to reach by taxi. The Gateway of India and sights in the Colaba area are about an hour away by car. It takes more than an hour to reach the Elephanta Caves.

Rooms

Mix of run-down and renovated rooms with flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning

The hotel offers three types of rooms: Standard, Deluxe, and Executive Deluxe. All are air-conditioned and have free Wi-Fi. Standards are small and basic, with tile floors, two twin beds pushed together, dated bedspreads and drapery, and light wood furniture. Beige walls lack decoration, and they are showing wear and tear, such as cracking and dents. Small flat-screen TVs are mounted on the wall. Tiny bathrooms offer a shower and toiletries in large wall-mounted containers. Deluxe Rooms are a little larger, and bed linens are more up to date, but they also have two twin beds pushed together. Executive Deluxe Rooms are the most attractive option. These feature rugs atop lovely tiled floors, bamboo furniture, accent walls with tribal art, and table-and-chair sets. This category also adds mini-fridges, electric kettles, fruit and snack baskets, and safes. Some rooms have balconies, but views of the parking lot or adjacent buildings are less than desirable. Noise from the airport and traffic can be issues in some rooms, according to previous guests.

Features

Free breakfast, 24/7 room service, free airport transportation, and free Wi-Fi

This simple hotel offers few features. A free breakfast is delivered to guest rooms daily, or travelers can opt for the buffet served on a lovely rooftop terrace with wicker seating shaded by umbrellas. Breakfast includes tea or coffee, and guests can choose between a South Indian dish or a Western breakfast of eggs, cereal, and juice. Room service includes snacks, beverages, or takeout from designated local restaurants. It's available 24/7. There's also a restaurant and bar in the building, but it's not affiliated with the hotel. Free transportation is provided to and from the airport. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
