- Modern rooms with 40-inch TVs and free on-demand movies
- Close proximity to Victoria station and Buckingham Palace
- Free Wi-Fi
- 24-hour café, bar, and reception
- Free coffee, tea, and bottled water in the rooms
- Free wine and cheese service in the evenings

- Lack of shampoo and conditioner in shower facilities
- Limited space in rooms and public areas
Bottom Line
The 106-room Z Hotel Victoria is an upper-middle range property located in the middle of London's borough of Westminster, within easy walking distance of Buckingham Palace. This boutique offers stylish, small rooms at a reasonable price; the nearby (and upscale) Tophams Hotel costs a decent amount more, while the similarly priced Best Western Victoria Palace isn't nearly as modern. The free Wi-Fi, free evening wine and cheese offering, and 24-hour cafe add to the hotel's convenience and value, but the lack of windows in many of the rooms is a notable downside.

A light and modern design with a sustainable twist

The Z Hotel may be a Victorian townhouse on the outside, but inside the modern decor is characterized by well-conceived mix of glass, wood, and concrete, which decorates both the rooms and public spaces. All furniture and materials in the rooms have been designed and built in the U.K., so they're not only well-constructed but environmentally friendly too. The lobby and cafe area is dominated by a large, long wooden table surrounded by mesh and leatherette chairs in a mid-century modern style.
Location
Ideally located near the major tourist sights with great links to public transportation.
The Z Hotel Victoria boasts a convenient location in Belgravia, near the border with Victoria and just down the road from Victoria Train Station (with access to the London Underground and Gatwick Airport). It's an 11-minute walk to Buckingham Palace, and within a 20-minute walk of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and Harrods. There are plenty of restaurants, pubs, and bars to discover in the immediate area. The only downside to this location is the noise at most hours of the day, due to the proximity to a major train station.
Rooms
Smartly designed modern rooms with some pleasant extras

The 106 rooms of Z Hotel Victoria are on the small side but their clever design makes the most of the space. Beds, like all of the furniture, are handcrafted, although some guests have noted the mattresses' stiffness. Every room comes with free water and soft drinks, which is a plus. The 40-inch TVs have a full satellite package with free on-demand movies; USB and HDMI ports next to the bed allow you to play media straight from your PC or portable hard drive. Bathroom facilities include a lovely rain shower and free handmade soaps, although shampoo and conditioner are not included. A downside of the rooms is the lack of storage space (and space in general), making them best suited to short-term stays. Some rooms also lack windows.
Features
Plenty of freebies, including Wi-Fi and evening wine and cheese

Z Hotel Victoria's main common area doubles as a lobby and 24-hour cafe, where pastries, coffee, and alcoholic beverages are served. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and free refreshments (including cheese and wine service in the lounge every evening) add value. Billing has been simplified so there are never any extra fees (all entertainment and drinks in the rooms are free), and the accommodation is already paid for upon arrival, speeding up the check-in process.
