  • Spacious marble bathrooms with decent-sized showers
  • Junior Suites are big with separate seating areas and a massive balcony
  • Expansive breakfast buffet (typical of the NH chain)
  • Espresso machines available in the Junior Suites

  • No safes or coffee makers in standard rooms
  • Small, unremarkable lobby
  • Free Wi-Fi only available in the lobby (limited to 30 minutes)

Bottom Line

The NH Breton is a 56-room value hotel located in the hip Rios Rosas neighborhood. Rooms are updated and modern with hardwood floors and striking colors. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, stocked minibars, and spacious marble bathrooms. Springing for a junior suite gets guests considerably more space, a massive balcony, and an espresso machine. The hotel puts out an expansive breakfast buffet, typical of the NH chain, but there are few other amenities (no fitness center, bar, spa, or pool). This no-frills property only offers free Wi-Fi in the lobby (there's a fee to use it in the rooms), but it is located in a great neighborhood on a quiet street.

On a quiet side street in the Rios Rosas neighborhood

Map of NH Madrid Chamberi

The NH Breton is located on a small side street in the Rios Rosas neighborhood of the Chamberi district. There's plenty of restaurants and nightlife in the immediate area, and a metro station is located within a block of the hotel.

Rios Rosas is one of six major subdivisions of Chamberi. It's a surprisingly pedestrian-friendly area located close to the financial district. A subtle and charming blend of corporate offices, residences, and lots of nightlife geared towards people in their early 30s make up this neighborhood. Low key partying, dining, and convenient access to other areas of the city make it popular with young professionals and well-heeled couples.

  • 17-minute drive to Madrid-Barajas Airport
  • 13-minute subway ride to shopping on Gran Via
  • 18-minute subway ride to Plaza de Castilla, the financial district
  • 21-minute subway ride to Atocha train station
  • 21-minute subway ride to Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor
  • 21-minute subway ride to La Latina, a nightlife hotspot

  • 23-minute subway ride to Reina Sofia Museum
  • 23-minute subway ride to Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum
  • 25-minute subway ride to Retiro Park, Madrid's most famous garden
  • 26-minute subway ride to El Prado Museum
  • 26-minute subway ride to Templo de Debod Park, with great views and an original Egyptian temple
