Bottom Line

An affordable, mid-range chain hotel, the Travelodge Torrelaguna Madrid is located in a mostly residential area about a 15-minute drive from central Madrid. The style is contemporary and clean, if basic and typical of the brand, and rooms have coffeemakers and flat-screen TVs. The hotel offers concierge services and free Wi-Fi, and there's a bar and 24-hour front desk. Pets are welcome for a fee, and there's off-site parking. Room service has limited hours. A car is necessary for those who plan on visiting the city center.

Travelodge Madrid Torrelaguna

Scene

Simple and modern chain hotel

Simple and functional, the Travelodge Torrelaguna Madrid is pretty standard for the mid-range budget chain. There are floor-to-ceiling windows in the open lobby as well as modest gray couches and light tan tile. The front desk is plain, but well lit, and there are vending machines and tourist information available in the lobby, as well. A bright bar and breakfast area continues the minimal theme with light wood chairs, darker mixed-wood tables, and contemporary light fixtures. In the hallways, the same blonde wood covers the doors and light blue paint matches the front entryway. The common areas aren’t flashy, but they’re up-to-date and cover the essentials well.

The Travelodge Torrelaguna Madrid is located in a quiet residential neighborhood next to the M-30 and A-2 highways on the outskirts of Madrid. A few public transportation stops, shops, and restaurants are within walking distance, but central Madrid is at least a 15-minute drive (or 45-minute bus ride) away. Las Ventas, National Auditorium of Music, Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Prado Museum, and Puerta del Sol are all within a 15-minute drive of the hotel. Guests should strongly consider a rental car if they plan to travel to sights around Madrid.

Rooms

Clean and simple

The sound-proofed rooms at the Travelodge Torrelaguna Madrid are simple and clean, with the clean-lined, minimalist furnishings that are typical of the brand in Europe. Red, blue, and gray fabrics are used in the bedspreads and curtains, with a blue accent wall to add some color. Some art decorates the walls, and there are hardwood floors and reading lights in the wooden headboards. Flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and coffeemakers are in each room, and some rooms have blue sofas. Bathrooms are basic, decorated in the brand's signature blue and white tile, with Travelodge toiletries; the bathrooms are decent-sized, the lighting is good, and there are standard bidets and combination shower/tubs.
