Despite being an airport hotel, Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Airport South/Blue Lagoon is comfortable and inviting, with amenities like an outdoor pool, 24-hour business center, meeting rooms, and sizable gym, putting the property a step above nearby competitors. The 149 rooms are spacious and clean, but decor is generic. Close proximity by car to Miami International Airport and Port of Miami make it a convenient choice for travelers.
Scene
Welcoming value hotel with basic decor and quiet, professional atmosphere
From the second you walk into the lobby, you are greeted with a welcome mat that says "We love having you here" -- just one of the many ways the Hampton Inn & Suites tries to ensure guests have a pleasant stay. Still, the large, high-ceiling lobby with bold, brown patterned carpets, green couches, and a scenic mural of palm trees is dated if not a little tacky. This type of decor can be seen throughout the hotel, except for the mezzanine, which has dark wood paneled walls, classically patterned chairs and couches, and a grand piano, giving it a more elegant vibe. A hub for business travelers and those staying in town a night or two before a flight or cruise, the hotel is quiet. Few guests stay purely for vacation.
Location
Close to airport and many main attractions
Located right off the Dolphin Expressway, the hotel is within walking distance of various fast food restaurants and strip malls. Just a 10-minute drive from Miami International Airport, it is convenient for those who are traveling. It’s also less than a 20-minute drive from the Port of Miami, one of the world's largest cruise ship ports. Other popular destinations are easily accessible as well, with the following travel times for select sights:- 20-minute drive to South Beach
Rooms
Comfortable, spacious rooms with generic decor
These large, clean rooms are generic and typical of similar chain hotels. Decor is basic, with light wood furniture, brown patterned carpets, stock paintings adorning the walls, and comfortable beds with down blankets. Each comes with a flat-screen TV, desk, free coffee and tea, and safety box. King Studios include a mini-fridge and microwave as well as a small sitting area. King Suites are more elaborate, having a full kitchen with dishes, silverware, pots and pans, and a breakfast bar with chairs. Views mostly overlook the parking lot or highway, although some get a peak of the Blue Lagoon. All rooms have narrow, contemporary bathrooms with marble sinks, Neutrogena bath products, and a showerhead with various water settings.
Features
Outdoor pool and multiple business facilities
There are many resources for guests traveling for business, with two boardrooms equipped with TVs, projectors, a white board, and coffee and tea. A 24-hour business center is also available with computers and printers. Guests can get a snack, beer, or even a frozen meal at the 24-hour Suite Shop. There’s also a modern, spacious fitness center with multiple machines and weights. Sleek lounge chairs and palm trees surround the outdoor pool, creating a private place for guests to relax despite being surrounded by nearby buildings. A free breakfast buffet is offered every morning with a wide selection of both hot and cold food.
