NH München City Sud

NH Munchen City Sud is a lower-middle-range chain hotel with brand decor and little adornment. The lobby features a wooden front desk and a small seating area with black leather chairs and a neutral-toned abstract art piece with pops of yellow. But hallways are drab with little to liven up the gray carpeting and white walls. The breakfast room is small with wooden floors and tables, and chairs with dark brown placemats. As there's no full restaurant or bar here, this space represents one of the only places where guests can gather. There’s nothing exceptional or especially welcoming about this hotel, and given its location off the highway, it best serves long-distance drivers looking for a place to stop for the night. Its low rates and proximity to public transportation links, however, do draw couples, families, and business travelers (the hotel is a 10-minute drive to the Exhibition Center). 

The hotel is off the main highway that rings the city, and it's about a 20-minute drive to central Munich, or a 25- to 30-minute trip on public transportation. There is a solid Italian restaurant in the hotel's building, and a Chinese restaurant and a few cafes within walking distance. The closest bus stop is about a five-minute walk away, but the nearest underground station (Karl-Preis-Platz) is a 17- to 20-minute walk away. Ostpark is a 16-minute walk from the hotel, and the Exhibition Center is about a 10-minute drive from the hotel. It’s a 33-minute drive to Munich International Airport. 

The 163 rooms at NH Munchen City Sud have a generic, utilitarian style, and rooms in the older part of the hotel show visible nicks and scratches. All rooms include wood floors and white-linen bedding. Older rooms have streamlined furniture, and red or tan elements in chairs or curtains. Newer rooms have dark-wood furniture, modern armchairs, and tan curtains. There’s little adornment beyond generic artwork. All rooms include flat-screen TVs with Sky-TV, laptop-size safes, and free (but spotty) Wi-Fi, but they lack air-conditioning. Standard New Style Rooms have mini-fridges, Nespresso machines, and coffeemakers, as do Suites. Apartments, some of which have two levels, have kitchenettes with microwaves, two-burner stoves, and sinks. White-and-blue tile bathrooms are outfitted with shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. 

The hotel has a short list of on-site features, but there is a sauna, a relaxation room, and showers that guests can use for a fee. A breakfast buffet of juices, pastries, fruit, cold cuts, and cheeses is offered in the morning and is included in some room rates, but there’s no bar or restaurant on-site. There's a public computer available and free Wi-Fi throughout, although the connection is unreliable. Underground parking is available for a fee.
