Most Romantic Hotels in Nerja, Costa del Sol

The Hotel Balcon de Europa is one of many high-end hotel choices on the Malaga coast, but what sets this 108-room property apart is its prime location on the beach in the center of tourist-friendly Nerja. There's definitely an adult vibe here thanks to the rooftop swimming pool, spa facilities, and a romantic restaurant with views of the beach through floor-to-ceiling windows.

The 18-room, mid-range Hotel Paraiso del Mar is short on amenities but it has an intimate and inviting atmosphere ideal for couples. The hotel's proximity to the beach is another major plus, as there's a staircase that brings guests straight to the sand. It's also within walking distance of quite a few bars and restaurants, as well as the town center of Nerja. Guest rooms are old-fashioned, but they're comfortable and outfitted with free Wi-Fi, minibars, air-conditioning, and jetted tubs. Aside from beach access, an outdoor pool, and hot tub, there are no leisure facilities, and dining is limited to a lobby bar and breakfast buffet.

The 98-room Parador de Nerja is part of a state-run chain of Spanish hotels, many of which are in historic buildings. The Parador de Nerja is not picturesque or historic; it's modern and utilitarian, but the views and the private elevator to Burriana Beach at the base of the cliffs make this feel like a special place. Sunsets viewed from the cliff-top hotel are spectacular and romantic, and the 10-minute walk into town for tapas is lovely.

The mid-range Hotel Plaza Cavana is a small property with lovely sea views from multiple areas and located just a five-minute walk from the beach. Rooms are contemporary, with slightly varying features, but all promise free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and balconies -- though some are Juliet-style and not big enough for chairs. It's worth mentioning that some rooms, particularly plaza-facing rooms, can pick up street noise. On-site features are limited to a rooftop pool and adjacent snack bar, and dining room for breakfast. 

The 19-room, mid-range Hotel Los Arcos is located in a quiet area of Nerja with little to do in the immediate vicinity, but within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and the beach, too. Playa Burriana, a popular beach in the area, is just a 20-minute walk away. Guest rooms are dated but pleasant, equipped with free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, mini-fridges with free water bottles, and flat-screen TVs, as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities and furnished terraces. On-site features include a pretty pool with loungers, well-reviewed restaurant, and bar offering happy hours throughout the week.

The 118-room, mid-range Hotel Villa Flamenca sits in a residential area of Nerja, an 11-minute walk from the beach and short walk to restaurants and bars. The hotel finished a complete renovation of their rooms in 2016, which resulted in simple but lovely furnishings. All come equipped with free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and furnished balconies, but they lack mini-fridges and safes requires a fee. The small pool and rooftop solarium have free sunbeds, and there are also a sauna and whirlpool. Dining-wise, on-site are a well-reviewed poolside snack bar and restaurant serving buffet-style breakfast and dinner.
