Scene

Quiet and laid-back hotel with a small social scene

Camino Real Zaashila feels quiet and laid-back. Designed by Mexican architect, Javier Sordo Madaleno, the hotel is spacious and spread out. The hotel design incorporates nature; tropical gardens and flowers are sprinkled throughout the grounds. By day, the pool and beach area are where most of the socializing is done. The only access to Rincon Sabroso Beach is through the hotel, so the sand is quiet and mostly private. Bella Vista can get busy in the morning, as it's the only breakfast option at the hotel. Bitza Lounge Bar is where more of the nightlife is found, expect to see couples having drinks and enjoying the sunset or shooting pool. With private pools in some rooms, plenty of quiet gardens to enjoy, and a few dining options, the hotel rarely feels cramped.

Location

A 25-minute drive to the Huatulco Airport and a 15-minute drive to shops in La Crucecita

The hotel is located on Boulevard Benito Juarez, the main road in Tangolunda. Like many hotels in the area, Camino Real is situated away from the road behind gates. Huatulco International Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel. The shops and restaurants of La Crucecita are a 15-minute drive from the hotel, and this is where you'll find street food carts serving classic Mexican dishes -- tacos, flautas, and tamales -- along Boulevard Chahue. For nature lovers, the Huatulco National Park is a 15-minute drive from the hotel and features over 470 species of reptiles including black iguanas and salamanders. The more populous Chahue Beach is located a 10-minute drive from Camino Real, and has a host of dining, shopping, and drinking options.

Rooms

Spacious and contemporary rooms, all with terraces and many with ocean views or private pools

When choosing your room at Camino Real Zaashila, you can determine if you want a private pool and how close you are to the beach. All rooms are contemporary and spacious, though a few of the older rooms could use an update. All rooms have a balcony or terrace, and many have ocean views. Colors throughout tend towards white, beige, and reds. Rooms have white wood bedside tables, beige chairs, and red accent pillows. All rooms come with high-speed air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges. There is plenty of closet and wardrobe space for stowing bags. The One- and Two-Bedroom Suites are nice upgrades for the extra space, dining and living room areas, and the small, but simple, kitchens. Bathrooms feature plenty of vanity space and separate water closets. All bathrooms have a shower/tub combo, and plenty of towels and a hairdryer. The Molton Brown toiletries and Scope mouthwash are pleasant extras.

Beachfront to Rincon Sabroso Beach, two pools, small fitness center, and four restaurants

Camino Real Zaashila has plenty of features to keep everyone happy. The hotel has an enviable location right on the golden sands of Rincon Sabroso Beach. The are plenty of thatched sun shades available for guests to use while lounging, as well as a few blue-and-white striped sun loungers and side tables. The pool bar is situated adjacent to the pool and services the pool and beach area throughout the day. The other pool is located at the Club de Playa, and is a smaller infinity pool overlooking the beach. There are a few wellness options on offer at Camino Real. A large, illuminated tennis court is available next to the fitness center. There is plenty of free parking. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby and common areas, but spotty in restaurants.

All-Inclusive / Food

Four restaurants and a casual lounge bar

For dining and drinking there are four restaurant options, along with a casual lounge bar at night and a pool bar during the day. The Club de Playa is the hotel's main restaurant and serves a casual Mexican lunch grill fare of ceviche, tacos, soups, and sandwiches. Guests can expect a casual atmosphere during the day with alfresco dining on white chairs and black wood tables. For dinner, the Club de Playa changes into the romantic Azul Profundo with gray tablecloth topped tables over looking the ocean, hanging lanterns, and candles. The menu matches the elegant atmosphere with upscale traditional Mexican dishes such as sabor de Oaxaca and grilled salmon. Chez Binini is the other dinner option at Camino Real. The spacious restaurant has a laid-back vibe with plenty of open windows looking out on to the pool terrace and gardens. Chez Binini serves a traditional Mexican dinner with plenty of local influences, expect to see tlayudas, mole, and chapulines (grasshoppers).A Mexican breakfast buffet is served daily at Bella Vista and consists of Oaxacan hot chocolate, tamales, and plenty of fresh fruit.
