The 170-room Hotel Median Paris
Congres is located in the 17th arrondissement, in the Porte de
Clichy area on the edge of the city. The hotel’s common areas are spacious but dated, but the guest rooms -- while small -- are bright, clean, and modern. The hotel faces Paris’s periphery freeway, and the area lacks the charm and convenience found in more central Parisian locations. Business travelers and sports fans may appreciate the proximity to the Stade de France and convention centers and it's a convenient spot for guests with a car, but there is a fee for parking.
Scene
Dated hotel on the edge of Paris proper
The Hotel Median Paris Congres is a good fit for business travelers looking for a nearby place to sleep, but guests seeking Parisian charm may want to book something closer to the city center. The hotel is unappealing from the outside and resembles an office building, and the area is drab and feels isolated due to its location next to the peripheral freeway and a construction site. The common areas are large for a Paris hotel. The bar and lobby are dark, with dated mirrored ceilings and linoleum floors, as well as several racks of tour brochures. The hallways have unfortunate fluorescent lighting and rough stucco walls. Guest rooms, on the other hand, are fresh and bright, but the views are uninspiring.
Location
On the northern edge of Paris, near the convention center
The Hotel Median Paris Congres is located on
the north edge of Paris, near the Palais des Congres (convention center), the Villepinte Exhibition
Center, and other business hotspots. The hotel sits on a gritty block, directly
in front of Paris’s busy peripheral highway. The metro is an eight-minute walk from
the lobby; from there it's a 40-minute ride to the Eiffel Tower on the RER C. Both of Paris's major airports -- Charles de Gaulle and Orly -- can be reached in about 25 minutes by car, and there's private parking available
on site, for a surcharge.
Rooms
Small, tidy, and basic rooms with modern bathrooms
Rooms at the Hotel Median Paris Congres are small and tidy, with white walls contrasted by a red or blue accent wall, hardwood floors and simple light-wood furnishings. There are no seating areas -- just beds and desks with chairs. Bathrooms are tiny but have clean modern fixtures, shower stalls, and free toiletries. Rooms are soundproofed, but there is some traffic noise from the nearby freeway. Amenities include flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and pay movies, safes, free Wi-Fi, and coffeemakers. All rooms were renovated in 2015.
Features
Charming French bistro, spacious bar, and three conference rooms
The Hotel Median Paris Congres offers a daily buffet breakfast (for a fee), useful because there are no cafes in the immediate area. The restaurant is charming, colorful, and inviting, with genuine French cafe flair, serving traditional French cuisine. The hotel bar, on the other hand, is dark and dated -- not yet renovated -- but offers guests plenty of space. There are three flexible conference rooms with room for 120 attendees. Private parking is available for a surcharge, but is free to those attending conferences at the hotel.
