Hôtel Beaurepaire

Situated near the Place de la Republique and Gare du Nord, this hotel’s greatest selling point is its location. With popular attractions and public transport links nearby, most visitors treat The Republique as an affordable base to explore the city. The hotel’s stone facade makes an unremarkable first impression, but it's in-keeping with the surrounding buildings in this residential neighborhood. Interiors were completely renovated in 2014, and feel fresh and clean, attracting couples and families on a budget. Contemporary photographs and ornaments are dotted around the hotel, including a bulldog sculpture in the breakfast room and a Pop Art Eiffel Tower in the lobby, all adding a dash of personality. 

Located in Canal St-Martin, in the 10th Arrondissement, this hotel offers an ideal base for exploring most of the city’s major attractions. The Place de la Republique, with the Republique Metro station, is a four-minute walk away, while the Jacques Bonsergent Metro station is five minutes away on foot. There are several theaters in the area, including the Apollo Theatre and Palais de Glaces, which are four- and seven-minute walks from the hotel, respectively. For a leisurely waterside walk, the Canal Saint Martin is 13 minutes away on foot. From the hotel, it’s a 13-minute metro journey to Galeries Lafayette, the famous French department store, and 15 minutes to The Picasso Museum. Notre Dame Cathedral is a 16-minute drive depending on traffic, or 20 minutes by public transport. The Gare du Nord train station is 11 minutes away on the metro. Charles de Gaulle Airport is a 40-minute drive, depending on traffic, or around an hour on the RER train. Budget at least 65 minutes to reach Orly Airport by public transport. 

The Republique has 40 budget-friendly rooms with functional furnishings. White painted walls and white bedding make rooms feel clean, while bolder damask patterns contrast the simple light-wood veneer desks and headboards. All rooms have dining chairs, full-length mirrors, and wardrobe space with hangers. Single and Twin Rooms are compact, but adequate for a short stay. Triple Rooms have both a double and single bed, and French doors that open onto a small Juliet balcony. In-room amenities include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and phones. It’s worth noting that there’s no air-conditioning, which could be problematic in summer months, and street noise is an issue in some rooms. En-suite bathrooms are small, but bright and clean, with white tiled walls, shower cubicles, and vanity mirrors. Basic toiletries, fluffy white towels, and hairdryers are provided. 

This property has limited facilities, but no less than other budget hotels in central Paris. The breakfast room is spacious, with an attractive exposed brick feature wall, and plenty of natural light. The continental buffet breakfast includes French pastries, cereal, yogurts, fruit juices, and hot drinks (for a fee). Room service and free newspapers are available. There’s a tiny elevator, just big enough for two people, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Long-stay parking is available nearby, for a fee.
