Le Viman Resort

The three-pearl Le Viman Resort is a boutique-style property with 17 tastefully decorated rooms, located in Pattaya's Phra Tamnak Hill. Not much is within walking distance of the residential setting -- it's a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride to Walking Street's nightlife or the beach -- but most guests come here to unplug from city chaos. Modern, apartment-style rooms have kitchenettes and balconies or terraces. There are two pools and hot tubs, and a fitness facility to boot, but no food service. Free Wi-Fi is available. Guests looking to stay closer to the beach at a similar price point can investigate The Seasons Pattaya, but it's less charming and intimate.

2

Siam@Siam Design Hotel Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

The eclectic design, modern furnishings, and business-friendly perks -- like a rooftop pool and bar, daily happy hours, and a sunny fitness center -- make the four-pearl Siam@Siam Design Hotel Pattaya a popular choice for corporate travelers from all over the world. The 268 rooms are spacious and have more personality than the competition -- with funky, artsy details -- and features include air-conditioning, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. A kiddie pool and two playfully themed on-site restaurants including a daily buffet earn the hotel points with families too, and the beach is only a five-minute walk from the property. For a more intimate boutique alternative, the Wave Hotel is just across from the beach and has tons of style. It's closer to Walking Street nightlife, though rates will be higher.

3

Dusit Thani Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

The tranquil, four-pearl Dusit Thani Pattaya is a fine choice for those looking to relax on the beach, within a reasonable distance from shopping and dining, but at a remove from Pattaya's hustle. The hotel’s relatively secluded location, a 10-minute walk from shopping and dining, keeps some of the seedier elements of town thankfully at bay. While lush, manicured tropical grounds in and around the hotel make a nice impression, the 457 rooms are a bit dated. Two huge outdoor pools, kid-friendly features, a modern gym, and three on-site restaurants round out the hotel's offerings. Those who want a bit more excitement -- the city's popular nighttime Walking Street is a 20-minute cab ride away -- should investigate the similarly priced and more central Hard Rock Hotel.

4

Pattaya Blue Sky

Pattaya, Thailand

Just a 10-minute walk from the beach, the mid-range Pattaya Blue Sky offers a good value in northern Pattaya. Simple in terms of decorations, the 63 contemporary rooms come with balconies, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. An appealing rooftop swimming pool with a sundeck, all-day restaurant that serves Thai and international fare, and a fitness center are on-site, but there are no bar or spa. Travelers looking for a resort directly on the beach and in the thick of the Pattaya action, should compare rates with Baboona BeachFront Living Hotel, though it lacks a pool.

5

Amari Nova Suites Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

The upper-middle-range Amari Nova Suites Pattaya is located in a quiet area, about a 15-minute walk from the beach. The 105 studios and suites are spacious and well-equipped with full kitchens, washer/dryer combos, and furnished balconies, though maintenance issues have been reported. Guests can prepare their own meals, or eat at the on-site bistro, which offers a breakfast buffet as well as a la carte lunch and dinner. The hotel has a lovely rooftop pool and whirlpool, plus a spacious fitness center. The location means many guests will have to rely on public transport to get to restaurants, shops, and beaches. If kitchen facilities are less important than being near the beach, consider the similarly priced Amari Garden Pattaya.

6

Zing Resort & Spa

Pattaya, Thailand

The three-pearl, 83-room Zing Resort and Spa is an LGBTQ-friendly value hotel located in the Jomtien Complex in South Pattaya. While the property is surrounded by restaurants and nightclubs, it stays surprisingly quiet inside. Air-conditioned rooms are spacious and modern, but mostly simple, with hardwood floors, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Most add furnished balconies with pool views. The restaurant serves local and Western cuisines, as well as a generous breakfast buffet for a fee, while the cafe offers coffee and ice cream. The full-service spa has a hot tub, sauna, and steam room, and there's a peaceful outdoor pool with sun loungers and a poolside bar. As a nearby alternative, the Pinnacle Jomtien Resort & Spa is right on the beach, but rates are higher.

7

Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Resort

Jomtien Beach, Thailand

The Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Resort & Spa is an upper-middle-range option right along a picturesque private beach, around a 20-minute drive from the center of Pattaya. The 345 units are spread across a number of buildings and sit within a lush, sprawling garden dotted with palm trees. Rooms vary from traditional to contemporary, but all come with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and furnished balconies and terraces, plus some add direct pool access. Two restaurants serve Thai and seafood dishes, and free buffet breakfasts that receive mixed reviews. Several on-site features consist of four swimming pools, a spa, small gym, and a tennis court. Travelers wanting a location closer to town may like the centrally located Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel & Resort, which has its own bowling alley.

8

Centara Pattaya Hotel

Pattaya, Thailand

The 152-room, upper-middle-range Centara Pattaya Hotel has a central location, set a six-minute walk from the beach and close to shopping and diningoptions. Rooms are modern and minimalist, equipped with furnished outdoor spaces, minibars, and flat-screen TVs. Families traveling with children can choose from a family studio with bunkbeds or a two-bedroom suite. Aside from the outdoor pool, though, there aren’t any activities for kids. There are lots of solo travelers and groups of friends here, attracted to the hotel’s guest-friendly policy and affordable rates. The restaurant has a free breakfast buffet, which receives positive feedback, and the Lobby Bar serves snacks as well as drinks. The hotel has a modern gym and there's a spa at their sister property next door. Families may prefer the more kid-friendly Amari Garden Pattaya.

9

Red Planet Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

The 192-room Red Planet Pattaya is a sleek budget property in north Pattaya, across the street from Central Center Pattaya. Rooms are small, but modern, with en-suite bathrooms and rainfall showers. There aren't many features here, and rooms lack mini-fridges, but Wi-Fi and parking are free, plus there's a computer station with computers. Travelers might also want to consider the similarly priced Sawasdee Sea View, where rooms are larger and there is an on-site restaurant as well as a buffet breakfast. However, rooms are far more stylish at Red Planet and the location can't be beat.

10

Areca Lodge

Pattaya, Thailand

The 216-room Areca Lodge is a solid mid-range option, located a six-minute walk to the beach and 18-minute walk to Walking Street. Contemporary rooms are attractive, and equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and minibars. Bathrooms with shower/tub combos look a little dated, however. There are two lovely pools to choose from, both with built-in whirlpools. A small but lovely spa offers Thai massages, a sauna, and whirlpool, plus there are two gyms. The two on-site restaurants are well-reviewed, and guests particularly enjoy the free breakfast spread. Aside from the pools, there's little to occupy kids on-site. Travelers looking to be closer to the beach may prefer the Amari Garden Hotel, though rates are higher.

11

Nova Gold Hotel

Pattaya, Thailand

The upscale, 77-room Nova Gold Hotel Pattaya is a good value for central Pattaya, and is just a 10-minute walk to Pattaya Beach. Contemporary, basic rooms have balconies plus walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, and most have separate tubs and desktop computers. The small, shaded outdoor pool and hot tub are open all day, and an affiliated off-site restaurant, serving all meals, is less than a five-minute walk away. Freebies include Wi-Fi, an area shuttle, and garage parking. Guests desiring more amenities should consider the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya, with its on-site restaurants, full-service spa, and extensive fitness center.

12

Mercure Pattaya Hotel

Pattaya, Thailand

Mercure Pattaya Hotel is a three-pearl chain hotel that’s less than a 15-minute walk to the beach. The swimming pool, hot and cold breakfast, bar, restaurant, and free local shuttle are great attributes to the property. However, the 247 rooms are quite dated with cleanliness problems and maintenance issues. The vacationing clientele who can look past these issues will appreciate flat-screen TVs, kettles, and minibars in all rooms. Premier Inn Pattaya is a safer bet with similar amenities, pricing, and more up-to-date rooms.

13

Pattaya Park Beach Resort

Pattaya, Thailand

The two-pearl, 718-room Pattaya Park Beach Resort has seen better days. While the resort offers facilities often seen at higher-rated hotels -- like multiple pools and restaurants, plus a fitness center -- every aspect of the property is dated. Rooms are basic and run-down, with old furniture and tube-style TVs. There is free Wi-Fi and a basic breakfast is included; and there's a revolving restaurant with scenic sea and city views on the upper floors, but guests will see plenty of cheap furniture and maintenance issues throughout. The hotel is cheap, but for a slightly more expensive vacation with more style, Thai Garden Resort has nicer facilities and a kids' pool.

14

Sunbeam Hotel Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

This three-pearl, 268-room hotel is ideal for those who want to party all night and relax all day. It's a 10-minute walk from the bars and nightclubs on Walking Street, and a three-minute walk to the beach. Rooms are spacious and all include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and furnished balconies; but they lack sea views and bathrooms are looking tired. The outdoor pool has a separate children's pool and a swim-up bar, and there's an all-day international restaurant with buffet-style dining and a generous breakfast spread. Other facilities include a business center, fitness center, and 24-hour room service. Wi-Fi is free, but can be unreliable. Those who don't need to be in the thick of the action might like Le Viman Resort instead, offering tranquil grounds and a full-service spa.

15

Grand Hotel Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

The three-pearl, 80-room Grand Hotel Pattaya is located in central Pattaya, directly on Walking Street. It's surrounded by shops, bars, and restaurants, and the beach is a two-minute walk away. It's great for partygoers, but families and light sleepers may struggle with the all-night noise from nearby nightclubs. The hotel offers simple lodgings for travelers on a budget, with slightly tired air-conditioned rooms that include cable TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Most rooms have balconies with sea views. The restaurant serves international cuisine and an American breakfast buffet for a fee, plus alcoholic beverages and fresh coffee at the bar. There's a rooftop sundeck with sun loungers and sea views, but no pool or wellness facilities. Alternatively, the Sunshine Hotel & Residences isn't as central but adds three swimming pools.
