Bottom Line

Casa Del M is an upper-mid-range resort set in the lush, green hillsides of Phuket that offers a secluded vibe while still being relatively close to the nightlife and beaches of Patong. The modern, simply decorated hotel has an elegant pool and a terrace bar, both with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and city below. The 123 guest rooms have balconies and minibars, and are decorated with dark-wood decor contrasted by pops of bright color. Dining options include a terrace bistro and fine dining restaurant, and the hotel provides a beach shuttle five times daily. Those wanting to be closer to the action could try the Citrus Heights Patong Hotel, which also has a pool with hillside views.

Casa Del M, Patong Beach

Scene

Quiet, secluded property with simple, arguably sterile, decor

The decor at Casa Del M, Patong Beach is simple, modern, and minimalist -- even the exterior, a plain white, boxy modern building, looks stark. The lobby is spacious and bright, with glossy white floors and plenty of natural light. Decor includes dark-brown woven couches and chairs with bright orange and blue cushions and square, woven tables. M Bistro, which leans toward fine dining, is a sterile space with white ceilings featuring curved inlays, slated-wood walls, and rows of basic wood tables and chairs beside a long, black-and-brown bar with a woven appearance. The on-site restaurant has a terrace with views of the hillsides and city of Patong, but the decor is nothing special: just a wood deck dotted with a few potted tropical plants, and dark-brown woven tables and chairs.

Location

In the hills of Phuket, a 20-minute walk from the action

Casa Del M is set on a smallish road lined with serviced apartments. There's little commerce in the immediate area, but there's a much livelier road with cafes and boutiques a few minutes' walk. The hotel offers a shuttle to Patong Beach that departs five times daily. It otherwise takes about 20 to 30 minutes to walk to the beach and the nightlife around Bangla Road. Phuket International Airport is 40 minutes away by car, and the hotel can arrange transfers for a fee.

Rooms

Simple, minimally decorated rooms with balconies and minibars

The Casa Del M offers a range of room types, all with flat-screen TVs, minibars with free beer and soft drinks, electric kettles, safes, and balconies with dark-wood railings and white plastic furniture. Wi-Fi, while free, can be spotty in some rooms. Superior Rooms (the base category) are airy and modern, with glossy tile floors. They get lots of natural light thanks to glass doors leading to the balconies. Otherwise, the decor is an unremarkable mix of white bedding, beige walls and curtains, and touches of bright violet. Bathrooms are white with touches of black tiling, and have walk-in showers. Spacious Premier Pool Access Rooms are suited to groups of three or four, and open out onto the pool.
