Bottom Line

The 89-room, mid-range Hotel Caesar is one of five hotels in the Your Prague Hotels chain. Located away from crowds of tourists in Prague’s New Town, it’s a short walk to Wenceslas Square and also close to the sights in the Old Town. For travelers looking for more of a workout than walking provides, there’s a small gym on the premises. The hotel’s Superior and Antique rooms are a bit more romantic than the Standard rooms, with four-poster or antique dark wood beds. A buffet breakfast with hot food is included in the room rate and there’s also a small lobby bar with cozy couches. Travelers who don’t need the special rooms, or a gym, can try Hotel Praga 1, a similarly basic property owned by the same company, which has slightly cheaper rates and offers two-room apartments for families.

Hotel Caesar Prague

Scene

Clean, mid-range hotel with some older-looking decor

Hotel Caesar Prague is a well kept, mid-range property with the generic look of an older European hotel with updates made in the 1970s or ‘80s. The lobby has an ornate front desk and charming hanging lamps, but is otherwise sparsely decorated with maroon leather couches and armchairs, and potted plants here and there. The breakfast room is modern and cheerful enough, with cream-colored tablecloths and pink and cream striped curtains. The bar has classic red and gold stools and a salmon-colored marble ceiling. While not the height of sophistication, it’s a perfectly fine spot for couples and groups to grab a drink after a day of sightseeing.

Location

In New Town, an easy walk to Wenceslas Square and Old Town attractions

The hotel sits on a quiet road in Prague’s New Town, a modern and not as tourist-filled neighborhood with cafes, restaurants, and nightlife. It’s still a short, 20-minute walk to tourist attractions in Old Town, including the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn and Charles Bridge, as well as a 10- to 15-minute walk to Wenceslas Square. It’s a 20-minute drive to the Vaclav Havel Airport or about 45 minutes via public transportation. Guests can access a shuttle service from the airport for an extra fee. It’s also about 15 minutes by tram to Prague’s main train station.

Rooms

Basic, clean rooms, including some with four-poster beds and antiques

The hotel’s 89 spacious and air-conditioned rooms, including Standard, Superior, and Antique rooms, are sparsely decorated with some dated touches. Standard rooms are just that, with generic red floral comforters and simple white furniture. The more romantic Superior rooms have four-poster beds with gauzy curtains, while antique rooms have more ornate, dark wood antique beds and furniture, and rich red fabrics. Bathrooms are spacious and have a plain, white-tiled European look, with stall showers or baths with handheld shower heads that are on the older side. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, electric kettles and tea bags, small safes, and hairdryers. Light sleepers should request a room away from the elevator.
